BRF, one of the largest food companies in the world, announced, yesterday (08/06), an investment of R$ 643 million in the state of Santa Catarina. The contribution will be allocated to the modernization of lines to expand production and construction of a new production unit. The announcement, via videoconference, was made by CEO Lorival Luz, Grazielle Parenti, global vice-president of Institutional Relations and Sustainability, and Vinícius Barbosa, vice-president of Operations and Supplies of the Company, to governor Carlos Moisés. BRF investments in the expansion and construction of units in Santa Catarina
The Capinzal unit, 442 km from the capital of Santa Catarina, will direct the resources made by BRF to the acquisition of equipment to expand the production volume in a line of breaded products, with the generation of 52 new jobs.
At the unit located in Concórdia, the investments should generate 107 job opportunities, with the expansion of the Ingredients line and the increase in the production of sliced and cured products. The Videira plant, the embryo of BRF in Santa Catarina with the birth of one of its main brands, Perdigão, in the 1930s, will gain a new cooked sausage factory, with the opening of 250 direct jobs.
Positive impacts of BRF in Santa Catarina
The governor of the state of Santa Catarina, Carlos Moisés, says that BRF has a very big impact on the economy of Santa Catarina and on the generation of income in the municipalities. According to him, they are partners of the productive sector and will work together to maintain the status of a safer state, with better quality of life and emphasis on job creation. These investments will benefit the entire society of Santa Catarina, concludes the governor.
The CEO, Lorival Luz, says that they generate around 21,2 direct jobs and have more than 4,7 integrated producers. The CEO of BRF says that they want to advance the growth agenda towards the 2030 Vision and following the purpose of bringing a better life to all with integrity, safety and quality.
Water supply
During the meeting, BRF executives also expressed concern about the supply of water, a fundamental raw material for the food industries. On the occasion, the Governor of Santa Catarina presented the State Government's investments to reduce the impacts of the drought and expand the supply of water in the West region.
Carlos Moisés says that, in partnership with the Legislative Assembly, they approved R$ 300 million, which must be invested in three years so that they have a permanent program of water reserve and conservation of springs. The governor says that the resources will be used for capturing, storing and using water and also for the preservation of springs and fountains.
Representatives of BRF and the government of state of Santa Catarina will unite in a working group, coordinated by Secretary Altair Silva, in search of solutions and new projects to expand the supply of water in Santa Catarina.
