The household appliance that consumes the most energy in Brazilian homes is not the air conditioner; it is located in the smallest room of the house, is used daily, and can account for up to 25% of the electricity bill, while an alternative in the same outlet can reduce this cost by up to 75%.
Space and Dimensions: Comfort for All Passengers
The BYD King stands out for its generous dimensions, providing greater internal comfort.
With 4.78 meters in length, 1.83 meters in width, 1.49 meters in height, and a wheelbase of 2.71 meters, it guarantees a spacious environment, especially in the back seat.
In contrast, the Toyota Corolla Hybrid has more compact dimensions, measuring 4.63 meters in length, 1.78 meters in width, 1.45 meters in height, and 2.70 meters in wheelbase.
This difference translates into more room for passengers and leg space in the BYD King, a differentiator for those who undertake long trips with family or need extra comfort in their daily life.

However, the Corolla offers a larger trunk, with a capacity of 470 liters, compared to 450 liters in the King, which can make a difference for those who transport a lot of luggage.

Performance and Power: The BYD King’s Advantage
The greater combined power of the BYD King (235 hp) compared to the 122 hp of the Corolla Hybrid is noteworthy.
The Chinese sedan combines a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine with an electric motor that allows acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds — almost half the time of the Toyota, which takes about 12 seconds to reach this mark.
This superior performance makes the BYD King appealing to those seeking agility without giving up energy efficiency, even in a mid-sized vehicle.
| Performance | BYD King | Toyota Corolla Hybrid |
|---|---|---|
| Total Combined Power | 235 hp | 122 hp |
| 0-100 km/h Acceleration | 7.3 seconds | Approximately 12 s |
Electric Range and Consumption: Plug-in vs Conventional Hybrid
The BYD King shines with an electric range of up to 80 km, according to Inmetro data, allowing the driver to travel in 100% electric mode on short trips, reducing consumption and emissions.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Corolla Hybrid, being a non-plug-in hybrid, has a symbolic electric range of less than 2 km and relies exclusively on the combustion engine for power.
In combined consumption, the Corolla still has an advantage in the city with an average of 18.5 km/l, while the BYD King, with the battery at 20%, reaches 15.5 km/l.
On highways, the Corolla consumes 15.7 km/l, data that proves the efficiency of Japanese technology.

Would you choose the technological innovation and power of the Chinese plug-in sedan, or the reliability and efficiency of the Japanese hybrid?

Fica a dica pra refletir
Não tem comparação não, reportagem… o BYD é absurdamente melhor pelo mesmo preço… não sei como ainda tem gente que compra o japonês!!!!
Motor térmico do King é 1.5 aspirado.
