New BYD Seagull Will Arrive Soon In The Market, Becoming The ‘Cheapest Electric Car In Brazil’. The Model Delivers 400 Km Of Range And May Debut For R$ 110 Thousand.
BYD is already working on launching its cheap electric car Seagull in Brazil, which is expected to happen in the early months of next year. The subcompact is a novelty even for the Chinese market and will arrive in Brazil costing less than the Dolphin, priced at R$ 150 thousand.
The estimate is that this will be the cheapest electric car in Brazil, costing between R$ 110 thousand and R$ 130 thousand, placing it below the JAC E-JS1 and Caoa Chery iCar.
Meet The Design Of The New BYD Seagull
The BYD Seagull is a subcompact that measures 3.78 meters in length and 1.71 m in width. However, its axles are at the ends of the body, with a very short front and rear overhang. This configuration favors the wheelbase, which opened up 2.5 m of internal space and greatly benefits the car’s dynamic behavior, as well as making it easier for designers to balance the body proportions. In style, the headlights make a nod to Lamborghini, with wedge cuts.

The steering wheel is the same as the other models, and the touchscreen is somewhat smaller yet still surpasses several domestic cars, measuring 10.1 inches. It also features vertical use functionality. A touch of a virtual button activates an electric motor that rotates the display. Behind the steering wheel of the cheap electric car, there is another configurable TFT display, sometimes serving as the instrument panel. This is seven inches but is not touchscreen.
Quite curious is the gear selector, which is located on a command strip at the top of the dashboard, along with other controls.
There are few buttons; however, the cheapest electric car in Brazil offers a convenience that, for example, the SUV Yuan Plus does not provide. There is a physical control specifically for activating the air conditioning and another for controlling ventilation. The more expensive vehicles from BYD require that the adjustment be made through the digital screen.
Cheapest Electric Car In Brazil Delivers A Range Of 405 Km
In China, the version of the cheap electric car with a larger battery can travel up to 405 km based on that country’s cycle, with a maximum speed of 130 km/h.
In Brazil, this range, according to the cycle established by Inmetro, should be around 350 km, but this is just an estimate.
In China, the BYD Seagull already accounts for 20% of BYD’s sales. The Chinese company’s factory in Camaçari, Bahia, will be ready by the end of next year to begin production of the Dolphin and the Song (SUV). The Seagull is a strong contender to be the third model produced in Brazil starting in 2025.
