Song BYD Launches Long Range Version with Up to 1200km Range, Efficient Consumption, and Excellent Cost-Effectiveness in the Automotive Market.

The Song BYD has just received a new version that elevates the level of range, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in the automotive market. The Chinese automaker presented the BYD Song Pro Long Range in China, a top-of-the-line configuration that achieves a 1200km of combined range, potentially reaching even greater numbers under specific conditions.

The news was announced in 2025, in the Chinese market, as a direct response to the advancing competition in the plug-in hybrid SUV segment. The strategy relies on larger batteries, reduced consumption, and more technology to attract consumers seeking savings without sacrificing comfort.

Song BYD Receives New Version Focused on Range

BYD had already renewed the look of the Song Pro in 2024. At that time, the plug-in hybrid SUV received a new front end, adjustments to the rear, and improvements to the cabin. However, the engine remained virtually the same as that used in Brazil. Now, the brand has decided to go further and launch a version that prioritizes range, one of the most valued factors in the current automotive market.

The new configuration, called Long Range, maintains the updated design but focuses on a more efficient mechanical set. As a result, the Song BYD now competes among hybrids with the greatest range in the segment.

Range Reaches 1200km and Can Exceed This Number

The main highlight of the new version lies in the battery. The Song Pro Long Range received a 26.6 kWh battery pack, superior to the 18.3 kWh of the simpler versions. This change directly impacts electric range and combined range.

According to released data, the model can travel up to 220 km in electric-only mode, considering the Chinese CLTC cycle. The combined range—adding a full battery and gasoline tank—reaches about 1,600 km. In the intermediate versions, the combined range is around 1200km, a figure that places the SUV among the most efficient in its category.

Mechanical Set Maintains Efficiency and Focus on Savings

Despite the evolution in the battery, the mechanical set remains familiar. The Song BYD uses a 1.5 gasoline engine, four-cylinder and naturally aspirated, with about 100 hp. This engine primarily acts as a generator of energy for the battery.

When necessary, it works in conjunction with the traction electric motor, which delivers approximately 165 hp. The traction remains always front-wheel drive. Thus, BYD maintains a proven formula, now combined with significantly superior range.

Consumption Reinforces Cost-Effectiveness in the Automotive Market

In addition to the increased range, the consumption stands out. According to BYD, the plug-in hybrid SUV registers averages above 31 km/l of gasoline, a number that reinforces the excellent cost-effectiveness of the model.

Another relevant point is the recharging. Even with the larger battery, the Song BYD allows for fast recharges. The 26.6 kWh battery is, in fact, the same used in the Song Plus Premium, already sold in Brazil. This indicates a strategy of standardization and cost reduction.

More Equipment Elevates Comfort and Safety

Visually, the higher range versions change little. BYD basically alters the color options and the designs of the alloy wheels. However, the equipment makes the difference.

These configurations bring exclusive standard items. Among them, the climate-controlled compartment in the center console stands out, which heats or cools beverages. Additionally, the front seats come with heating and ventilation, enhancing comfort in different climates.

The model also debuts an unprecedented safety technology. The system helps maintain vehicle control in case of tire blowout at high speeds. Finally, the interior finish features more refined materials, reinforcing the premium proposal.

Song BYD Strengthens Position in the Automotive Market

With the new Long Range version, the Song BYD enhances its competitiveness in the global automotive market. The combination of range, efficient consumption, and robust technological package meets a growing demand for more practical electrified vehicles.

Moreover, the range of 1200km or more reduces the so-called “range anxiety”, one of the main obstacles to the adoption of hybrids and electric vehicles. Thus, the model consolidates itself as a rational and attractive option.

Cost-Effectiveness Should Attract New Consumers

By combining high range, low consumption, and more equipment, the Song BYD reinforces its cost-effectiveness. Thus, the strategy targets consumers looking to switch to electrification without compromising their budget or routine.

With this, BYD signals its intention to continue expanding its presence outside of China. If this version reaches other markets, the impact on the hybrid SUV segment is expected to be significant.

Falou a verdade.
