Have You Ever Imagined Spending Only R$ 18.00 and Traveling 300 km with Your Car? This is Possible with the JAC e-JS1, the Cheapest Electric Car in Brazil.

In an effort to attract new consumers to the world of electric cars, JAC Motors plans to launch the cheapest 100% electric vehicle to date in the national territory, which is the JAC E-JS1, arriving in the country with prices starting at R$149,900, a still high value compared to the cheapest combustion engine cars, but it fits as the cheapest electric car in Brazil.

The electric E-JS1 will come to Brazil with a 61 hp engine and 15.3 kgfm of torque, sufficient for the 1,180 kg subcompact to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 13 seconds.

Even with a lithium iron phosphate battery with a lower capacity than the iEV20 (30.2 kWh vs. 34.9 kWh), the E-JS1 achieves the same autonomy level of up to 302 km under the NEDC cycle (or 260 km under the WLTP cycle, the most common global standard) – the iEV20 has 301 km under NEDC.

Developed by the SOL brand, a joint venture between JAC and Volkswagen in China, the E-JS1 is built on the same platform as the JAC iEV20 and J2. The new model measures 3,650 mm in length, 1,670 mm in width, 1,540 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,390 mm.

The E-JS1 features a unique design, with new bumpers, headlights, taillights, and a new rear hatch. The interior has also been redesigned, featuring a new elevated console and an expanded multimedia screen.

Straight to the Point: 300 km for Only R$ 18.00? Understand the Calculation!

And how much does it cost to charge an electric car, and what is the process? This depends on various factors, such as the kWh price in your area and the vehicle’s battery capacity. For the e-JS1, JAC reports that the customer will spend around R$ 0.589 for every 100 km traveled. The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 30 kWh.

Therefore, an owner will spend around R$ 18.00 to achieve the full 300 km range. With this amount, you won’t be able to put more than 6 liters of gasoline in your car’s tank in some regions of Brazil.

Did you understand the benefit now? The company reports that the energy consumption cost of the JAC E-JS1 is only R$ 18 (São Paulo/SP – Rate: R$ 0.534/kWh) for every 100 km (10 kWh for 100 km), in addition to ensuring savings during maintenance due to the vehicle lacking various components such as oil filters, radiators, and others present in combustion engine vehicles.

Electric Cars Can Reduce Maintenance Costs

The president of JAC Motors Brazil, Sergio Habib, in an interview with UOL, spoke about the fact that electric cars have the potential to reduce maintenance costs, but also present some limits related to range at the moment. The interview covers many topics about Sergio Habib’s history and JAC in Brazil, as well as the benefits of electric vehicles.

The expansion of JAC’s electric offerings in new markets is hopefully a trend we will see more of as more Chinese automakers expand outside of China, offering attractive offers of affordable electric vehicles to the world and forcing traditional global giants to realize and compete or lose market share.
