Plummeted! The Cars That Brazilians Stopped Buying in 2025

Between January and July of 2025, the Brazilian automotive market had over 1.1 million vehicles registered. But, while some models grew, others registered significant declines in sales, even after launches and facelifts.

Between January and July of 2025, the Brazilian market for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles recorded 1,131,269 registrations, according to Fenabrave.

However, some lost significant ground compared to the same period in 2024. Below is the list of cars that had the largest declines in sales. Data compiled by AutoEsporte with numbers from Fenabrave.

5th Place – Citroën C3: Decline of 39.5%

The Citroën C3 registered 7,402 units sold between January and July of 2025, compared to 12,242 in the same period of 2024. The decline was 39.5%.

The compact hatch is sold in four versions. The cheaper versions use a 1.0 naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine, with 75 hp and 10.7 kgfm, paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

The more expensive option features a 1.0 turbo flex engine with 130 hp and 20.4 kgfm, with a CVT that simulates seven gears.

  • Live Pack 1.0 MT: R$ 81,990
  • Feel 1.0 MT: R$ 84,790
  • YOU! Turbo 200 AT: R$ 101,490

4th Place – Ram 1500: Decline of 48%

The Ram 1500 licensed 492 units in the first seven months of 2025, compared to 947 in the same period of 2024. This represents a decline of 48%.

The model replaced the old V8 5.7 Hemi engine with a 3.0 biturbo six-cylinder gasoline engine. Despite the change, it became more powerful: 426 hp and 64.8 kgfm. Still, it maintains high fuel consumption, averaging 6 km/l in the city and 7 km/l on the highway, according to Inmetro.

  • Laramie Night Edition: R$ 599,990

3rd Place – Caoa Chery Tiggo 5x: Decline of 54.9%

The compact SUV Tiggo 5x registered 7,046 registrations until July of 2025, compared to 15,631 in the same period of the previous year. A difference of 54.9%.

The Sport and Pro versions use a 1.5 turbo engine with 150 hp and 21.4 kgfm, with a CVT that simulates nine gears. The Pro Hybrid Max Drive option combines the same 1.5 turbo engine with a mild hybrid 48V system, totaling 160 hp and 25.5 kgfm.

  • Sport: R$ 119,990
  • Pro: R$ 134,990
  • Pro Hybrid Max Drive: R$ 149,990

2nd Place – Chevrolet Silverado: Decline of 56.4%

The Chevrolet Silverado totaled 401 units sold between January and July of 2025, compared to 920 in the same period of 2024. A decline of 56.4%.

The model is equipped with a V8 5.3 gasoline engine, with 360 hp and 53 kgfm, along with a ten-speed automatic transmission. Despite its modest performance in Brazil, the pickup was among the ten best-selling cars in the world in 2024, with 639,000 units.

  • High Country: R$ 573,590

1st Place – Peugeot 208: Decline of 58.6%

The Peugeot 208 leads the ranking of the largest declines, with 5,067 units licensed between January and July of 2025, compared to 12,241 in the same period of 2024. The decline was 58.6%.

In the 2025 line, the compact hatch received a renewed look and retired the 1.6 engine. The entry-level versions come with a 1.0 Firefly naturally aspirated engine, with 75 hp and 10 kgfm, a five-speed manual transmission. The more expensive options use a 1.0 Turbo 200 engine with 130 hp and 20.4 kgfm, with a CVT that simulates seven gears and three driving modes.

  • Active 1.0 MT: R$ 81,490
  • Style 1.0 MT: R$ 93,490
  • Allure Turbo 200 CVT: R$ 106,990
  • GT Turbo 200 CVT: R$ 119,990

Market Trend

The data shows that, even with launches and facelifts, some models were unable to maintain sales momentum. Factors such as price, fuel consumption, and market positioning directly influenced performance.

More expensive models or those with high fuel consumption, such as the Ram 1500 and Silverado, faced greater resistance from consumers.

Meanwhile, hatchbacks and compact SUVs, although more affordable, experienced significant declines, indicating changes in public interest or direct competition.

With the advancement of new models and technologies, the coming months will reveal whether these vehicles can regain ground or continue losing market share in Brazil.
