National Action Aims to Encourage Taxpayers to Correct Pending Issues and Avoid Fines with a 100% Digital and Bureaucracy-Free Process

The Federal Revenue of Brazil started, on October 1, 2025, sending self-correction letters to 397,731 taxpayers whose Personal Income Tax Returns (IRPF 2025) were held in the fine mesh. The measure, called the 2025 Letters Project, aims to stimulate tax compliance and ensure that citizens correct any errors before audits.

The letters are being sent in weekly batches until October 18, so taxpayers have time to adjust their information in a safe, simple, and fully digital manner. In addition, the Ministry of Finance states that the initiative reinforces fiscal transparency and modernizes the relationship between the government and the taxpayer.

Consultation and Correction Without Leaving Home

To check for any pending issues, it is not necessary to go to a Federal Revenue office or hire specialized services. After all, taxpayers can check their tax status directly on the “My Income Tax” service, accessible on the e-CAC portal or on the Federal Revenue app, available for Android and iOS.

With this system, it is possible to check pending issues in real-time, as well as receive step-by-step guidance to correct the information. This way, the process becomes practical, accessible, and fully digital. Thus, the government aims to reduce bureaucracy and make self-correction faster and more efficient.

How to Identify and Correct Errors in the Declaration

To access the service, it is necessary to have a gov.br account with silver or gold seal, ensuring secure and authenticated access. When there is retention, the system displays the alert “With Pending Issues”, and by clicking on it, the taxpayer views the reason for the discrepancy. From there, it is possible to follow the provided instructions and correct the data quickly and securely.

In case of an error, just send a correcting declaration, without leaving home and at no additional cost. However, it is essential to review the reported values and check the documentation that supports the declared data. This way, the taxpayer avoids fines and demonstrates good faith in tax matters, strengthening the relationship of trust and responsibility with the tax authority.

2025 Letters Project Reinforces Transparency and Fiscal Education

The 2025 Letters Project is part of a policy of encouraging tax compliance, based on guidance and prevention, and not on punishment. Thus, the Federal Revenue educates and raises awareness among taxpayers, promoting a fairer and more transparent relationship with society.

The letters will be sent until October 18, 2025, reaching all regions of the country. In addition, the agency highlights that the project modernizes digital services and widens access to tax information, facilitating compliance with obligations in a autonomous and secure manner.

Self-Correction Avoids Headaches and Unnecessary Fines

By taking the opportunity to correct the information before any notification, the taxpayer avoids audits and maintains their tax situation regularized. The process is free, and all corrections can be made in a few minutes, directly through the electronic system.

In this way, the initiative strengthens a new fiscal culture, based on cooperation, trust, and transparency. Thus, the Federal Revenue replaces punishment with dialogue, creating a more educational and collaborative environment between the State and the taxpayer.

And you? Have you checked if your declaration has been held in the fine mesh or is free from this fiscal headache?
