The Energy Company of Minas Gerais (Cemig) Opened Registrations for a New Public Contest Aimed at Providing a Vacancy for Helicopter Pilots.
The position will be filled by someone who has a complete high school education, a valid commercial pilot license (CPL), a first-class aeronautical medical certificate, and proven experience of at least 2,500 flight hours. Candidates for the helicopter pilot position will have the chance to take off for the job on May 2, when the registrations will close.
To participate, it is necessary to pay a fee of R$200 or request a waiver of this payment. The grand final will take place on June 25, and the candidates need to be prepared to face an objective test (multiple choice). The top-ranked will also undergo title evaluations and a pre-employment medical examination before the appointment.
The winners will be offered above-average remuneration by Cemig: R$20,970.42 for a 40-hour work week – a salary worthy of the modern hero who will be at the controls of the helicopter. The contest will be valid for two years, with a possibility of extension.

How to Prepare for Helicopter Pilot Contest
A college degree is not required to become a helicopter pilot, but one must undergo a series of theoretical and practical training and take specific exams for each category determined by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
After completing the required training, consisting of theoretical and practical lessons, and passing the ANAC examination, the candidate will be qualified to work as a pilot of helicopters. The salary varies depending on the size of the aircraft, the pilot’s experience, the role played, and the area of operation.
A small aircraft pilot can earn between R$3,000 and R$5,000; a medium aircraft pilot can have a salary between R$5,000 and R$15,000; while offshore pilots (transporting people from the coast to oil platforms) can earn around R$18,000 (captain) or R$12,000 (co-pilot).
The helicopter pilot career has been highlighted in various reports, emphasizing its high remuneration and growing opportunities. The increase in the fleet of helicopters in the country, along with the exploration of the pre-salt layer, significantly contributes to this demand. The training is costly – around R$100,000 – but it is worth investing in this dream as the possibilities are as vast as the sky.
