Electric Hilux Pickup Was Shown to the Public at an Event in Thailand and Is Part of the Global Electrification Program of the Japanese Automaker
An innovative completely electric Hilux pickup, the HILUX Revo BEV, was presented last Wednesday (14) by the Japanese automaker Toyota. It is a 100% electric truck that has never been seen before.
According to the brand’s CEO, Akio Toyota, the car is still in the testing phase, and the exclusivity was offered as part of the automaker’s electrification initiative.
Thailand is celebrating 60 years of commercial activity, during which the Hilux has become the most popular vehicle available on the market. Therefore, an event in the country was chosen by Toyota to present its electric Hilux to the public.

The company’s CEO displayed the Toyota Hilux Revo BEV only in white, with an exclusive pattern on the front grille, in addition to a simple internal design. This demonstrates that the Toyota electric Hilux prioritizes reducing operational expenses for business customers who use the pickup for work.
The idea is based on the same combustion version, single cab, that is already sold by Toyota; due to its conventional appearance, it gives the impression of a version designed only for work.

100% Electric Hilux Presented by Toyota Is Not the Only Vehicle from the Manufacturer with a Zero Emission Idea
A few months ago, Toyota showcased a prototype of a Hydrogen-Powered Hilux, therefore, the electric Hilux Revo is not the only vehicle with a zero-emission idea. The mechanical components of the Toyota Mirai would serve as a platform for the project, which was conceived and developed by Toyota in the United Kingdom with the assistance and backing of the British government.
So far, Toyota has not provided any information about the specifications of the electric Hilux presented in Thailand. Even the mass production of the model is not certain at this moment.
The current version of the Hilux, which has been in production since 2015, will be replaced by a new generation of the vehicle at some point. When that happens, it is quite likely that Toyota’s pickup catalog will include at least one hybrid or electric version.
