New Chevrolet SUV Comes With 1.5 4-Cylinder Turbo Engine With Direct Injection That Offers 175 Horsepower And 28 Kgfm Of Torque.
Jeep Compass and Toyota Corolla Cross, beware; Chevrolet is kicking off its global launches this year with the 2025 Equinox, one of the automaker’s most promising cars for 2024. After being leaked in China about six months before the official launch, we finally have the opportunity to get to know the new generation of the Equinox, one of the most desired mid-size SUVs on the market.
Although it is a modest-selling option in Brazil, the Equinox found its space when equipped with the 2.0 Turbo engine. However, sales declined after the removal of this powertrain in 2020. Now, with the arrival of the new generation, the Equinox has evolved considerably and become practically a perfect car.
New Leader! Equinox 2025 Promises To Be The Terror Of The Compass And Corolla Cross!
Design And Dimensions
In terms of design, the new generation of the Equinox is much more beautiful and robust. Chevrolet adopted a new design line for its SUVs, inspired by its pickups, which will certainly please Brazilians.
-
Less than a Tera TSI, up to 710 km of range and charging in 9 minutes: the new BYD Song Ultra expands the Chinese brand’s bet on increasingly faster, more technological, and competitively priced electric SUVs.
-
With a 1.0 engine producing 75 hp and costing less than R$ 70,000, Fiat’s car returns to the podium as the cheapest in the country; a temporary promotion for the 2026 Like version reduces the price of the Fiat Mobi.
-
With a mild hybrid system of 48 V, 176 hp and a price of R$ 175,990 in the Sahara version, the new Jeep Renegade changes mostly on the inside, improves slightly in fuel consumption, and remains almost the same car.
-
With a 293.5 cm³ engine and a range of up to 400 km with a 14.1-liter tank, the Honda CB 300F Twister 2026 has up to 24.7 hp, an initial price of R$ 25,150, and already exceeds R$ 29,000 in the Fipe Table.
At the front, the Equinox features full LED headlights divided into Black Piano on the RS version, chrome on the ELT, and a mix on the Active, as well as a sporty bumper for all versions. On the sides, the car has aluminum roof rails and options for 17, 19, or 20-inch wheels. At the rear, there is an integrated spoiler, a distinctive bumper with Black Piano or gray finish, and full LED taillights that break away from the current market trend of interconnected lights.
In terms of dimensions, the Equinox has hardly changed in length, maintaining the same 4.65 meters. However, the wheelbase increased by 1 centimeter, reaching 2.73 meters. The width is 1.90 meters, the height is 1.65 meters, and the SUV is now 120 kg lighter, weighing 1,550 kg. The trunk is one of the most positive aspects of the new generation of the Equinox, with a capacity of 847 liters.
Powertrain And Performance
Regarding the powertrain, the Equinox 2025 maintains the proposal of not being a super sports car. Therefore, the new generation is not equipped with the old 2.0 Turbo engine. Instead, we have a new 1.5 4-cylinder Turbo engine with direct fuel injection, which runs exclusively on gasoline. This engine offers 175 horsepower and 28 kgfm of torque.
The transmission can be a CVT automatic type with eight simulated gears in front-wheel-drive versions or an eight-speed automatic with a torque converter in all-wheel-drive versions. The SUV’s performance is good, but not surprising.
As for fuel consumption, it averages 12 km/l in the city and 13.5 km/l on the highway with gasoline. So far, Chevrolet has not presented any hybrid or mild-hybrid configuration for the Equinox 2025. However, if new options are released, we will certainly bring more information in a future video.
Interior And Equipment

Inside, the Equinox finally delivers a worthy finish, with the entire upper part of the dashboard and doors covered in soft-touch material, contrasting with the hard plastic found in the current generation. The interior space remains excellent, providing great comfort for five adults.
The list of equipment is also a highlight, featuring items such as a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry with remote start, trunk with electric opening and closing with proximity sensor, Park Assist, electronic parking brake, traction and driving mode selector, wireless phone charging, LED ambient lights, Premium sound system from Bose, dual-zone climate control, front seats with electric adjustments, memory, heating, and cooling, gear selector lever behind the steering wheel, 10-inch digital dashboard, and a host of other features.
The new multimedia center also stands out, with an 11.3-inch display, native GPS, 360º camera system, and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety: Equinox 2025 Comes With Cruise Control, Collision Alert, Animal, Pedestrian, Cyclist Detector And Much More!
In terms of safety, the Equinox 2025 comes with several features that meet the current requirements of the category. It has collision alert, an animal, pedestrian and cyclist detector, lane change alert, automatic high beam switching, rear cross-traffic alert, maneuvering braking, lane-keeping and correction assistance, and blind spot alert. Additionally, it features adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, among many others.
Chevrolet SUV Equinox Arrives In Brazil At The End Of 2024
The new generation of the Equinox will begin selling in North America starting in the second half of this year; however, its arrival in Brazil is only expected at the end of 2024 or, at the latest, early 2025. It is worth noting that, since the Equinox sold in North America is the same model produced in Mexico and marketed in Brazil, if Chevrolet decides to keep the car in our country, it shouldn’t take more than the last quarter of this year for it to be available here.
Regarding prices, the Equinox is currently sold in Brazil in two configurations: RS for R$ 225,700 and Premiere AWD for R$ 276,500. With the arrival of the new generation, it is possible that the SUV will become a bit more expensive, perhaps starting from around R$ 270,000 to R$ 280,000. However, the car is much more complete, which justifies a possible price increase.
New Compact SUV Will Be A Direct Competitor To The Jeep Compass And Corolla Cross
Besides the Equinox, Chevrolet is also expected to launch the Tracker, a compact SUV that will be a direct competitor to the Jeep Compass and Corolla Cross. This is one of the most anticipated options for this year in the Brazilian market.
The new generation of the Equinox has evolved considerably and is looking much more interesting compared to the model currently available in the Brazilian market. The Equinox 2025 promises to win even more admirers in the country.
Now, we must eagerly await the car’s arrival in Brazil and check up close all the news it has to offer. If you are looking for a complete and modern mid-size SUV, the Equinox is certainly an option worth considering.
