Chevrolet Cobalt Will Get A New Line, But Is It Dead? The Mid-size Sedan Is Very Much Alive, Is Quite Successful, And Promises To Replace Onix And Become A New Nightmare For Toyota!
Is the Chevrolet Cobalt dead? No, it is still “very much alive,” is quite successful, and promises to replace Onix and terrorize the sales of the Toyota Corolla, but now on the other side of the world. More precisely, in Uzbekistan, a country located in Central Asia. There, the new Chevrolet car is produced by UzAuto Motors, a state-owned manufacturer that has a partnership with GM and Ravon.
If in Brazil, despite being very much loved by Brazilians, the Chevrolet car has been part of the past since its production was halted in 2020, in Uzbekistan, the Cobalt is still popular, so much so that it will receive an update. The local company is preparing a redesign of the Cobalt, which will be presented soon. Toyota Corolla

Chevrolet Cobalt Will Get A New Line Toyota Corolla

This will be the first major update for the regional market, as the new Chevrolet car has not undergone changes since 2016, maintaining the same model launched locally in 2012.
Specialized media speculate that the update will only bring the changes that the Latin American model received in 2016. The Cobalt will not receive a new engine or new versions. Toyota Corolla
Expectations For The New Design: The New Chevrolet Sedan Promises To Follow The Brazilian Model
If the update follows the standard of the Brazilian model, we can expect the new Chevrolet car to have new headlights with a more rounded and less aggressive design, a more modern front grille, and a bumper with a softer appearance.
With changes focused only on the design, the Cobalt from Central Asia should maintain the 1.5 gasoline engine with 106 hp of power. This specification is limited compared to the Brazilian model launched in 2016, which had two engine options: the 1.4 EconoFlex and the 1.8, which produced 102 hp and 108 hp of power, respectively.
Where Do The Cars Produced In Uzbekistan Go?
In addition to feeding the internal market of Uzbekistan, the new Chevrolet Cobalt produced by UzAuto is exported to other countries in the region, such as Kazakhstan, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. However, there is still an impasse regarding its commercialization in Russia due to the Ukraine War.
At the factory located in Asaka, SUVs Tahoe, Equinox, Captiva, and Traverse are also produced, in addition to the well-known Onix, which is set to be replaced by the new Cobalt.
Since 2019, when it changed its name from GM Uzbekistan to UzAuto Motors, the company is also preparing another sedan for the local market, the Lacetti, which can be purchased online. This model was also sold in Brazil between 2005 and 2010 but did not leave many fond memories.

Excelente carro! O Cobalt foi meu primeiro carro da Chevrolet. Tive o prazer em dirigir ambos: o manual e o automático. Inesquecível experiência! Parabéns a Chevrolet. Pena que saiu da linha de produção.
