Discover the world's largest electric container ship, China's Greenwater 01, leading innovation in the maritime industry
China has reached a significant milestone in the maritime industry with the launch of “Greenwater 01”, the largest electric container ship in the world, operated by the China Ocean Shipping Maritime Group (COSCO).
This innovative ship not only represents a advancement in technology of maritime transport, but also a big step towards environmental sustainability.
Ship Description from China
The “Greenwater 01” measures impressive 119,8 meters long, 23,6 meters wide and 9 meters deep. It is the world's first fully electric container ship, with 10.000 tons, and reaches a top speed of 19,4 km/h. The highlight of this ship is its huge battery capacity, which exceeds 50.000 kWh, equivalent to the energy needed to sustain several homes for an entire year.
- The government's ambitious plan aims to connect regions of the country with a 2.4-kilometer railway to revolutionize Brazilian logistics
- AW169: Rio de Janeiro's best police helicopter costs millions, flies for 3 hours and saves lives with cutting-edge technology!
- State innovates and announces that its railways will be fixed to the ground with SUPERGLUE
- Highways (BRs) will have tolls that change prices depending on the time of day! The decision follows what is done in other countries
battery technology
Each battery container provides 1.600 kWh of electricity and a container similar to the standard 20-foot containers that the ship carries is used. This allows the number of battery packs is modified according to travel needs, simply adjusting the number of battery containers on board.
Environmental impact
Sailing between Shanghai and Nanjing, China's “Greenwater 01” promises to be an ecological revolution on maritime routes. It is designed to save 3.900 kg of fuel for every 100 nautical miles sailed, which translates into a significant reduction in the consumption of fossil fuels and, consequently, carbon emissions. It is estimated that the ship can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 12,4 tons per same distance traveled, compared to traditional ships.
COSCO's launch of China's “Greenwater 01” not only sets a precedent in the shipping industry, but also reflects a growing commitment to sustainability and technological innovation. These advances are crucial to combating climate change and moving towards a greener and more sustainable future. The world now watches as this electrical giant from China sails toward a cleaner, more efficient horizon, marking the beginning of a new era in shipping.
