Maricá Advances With Tourist Cable Car Project at Ponta Negra Lighthouse, Private Investment of R$ 21 Million, Protocol Signed by Codemar and Expected Operation By 2027

The City Hall of Maricá formalized a new step to enhance the city’s tourist infrastructure. Through Codemar, a letter of intent was signed on December 16 to implement a cable car system in the Ponta Negra Lighthouse area.

The project estimates an investment of R$ 21 million and foresees execution with private resources. The proposal aims to strengthen tourism and stimulate the local economy with a new attraction focused on visitor flow.

The initiative indicates the generation of around 40 direct jobs and over 100 indirect jobs, with impacts on services and activities related to tourist support in the area.

What Happened and Why It Caught Attention

The letter of intent signed on December 16 officially puts the cable car at the Ponta Negra Lighthouse on the radar for implementation in Maricá. The action involves the City Hall of Maricá and Codemar.

The announcement attracts attention due to the investment volume, estimated at R$ 21 million, and the choice of one of the most well-known spots in the municipality as the project’s focal point.

The proposal also gains relevance for indicating a direct impact on the job market, with 40 direct jobs and over 100 indirect jobs associated with the operation and its surroundings.

The Ponta Negra Lighthouse is one of the highest and most strategic points on the coast of Maricá, offering a panoramic view of the ocean and the coastline, in addition to having strong tourism potential that is still underexplored

What Changes Practically for Tourism in Maricá

The implementation of the cable car system is likely to broaden the range of attractions in Maricá and enhance visitation to the Ponta Negra Lighthouse. The expectation is for a new boost to local tourism.

With more visitors circulating, consumption activities and services can gain momentum. The declared focus of the project is to strengthen tourism and boost the economy.

The creation of jobs appears as a direct consequence of this movement, with an expectation of around 40 direct jobs and over 100 indirect jobs.

What Are the Rules, Deadlines, and Conditions

The projected investment is R$ 21 million and the project’s implementation is linked to private resources. This format maintains the focus on private capital to enable the implementation.

The letter of intent has an initial validity of six months, a period associated with the advancement of necessary stages for the proposal to move forward.

There is an indication of the start of construction between 60 and 90 days after authorizations from the competent authorities, with an estimated timeline of 18 to 24 months for execution, in addition to an expected operation by 2027.

How the Process Works When Applicable

Codemar is the central piece in the institutional conduct of the project, with a role aimed at monitoring and facilitating the progress of necessary stages.

The process involves obtaining authorizations and licenses from the responsible bodies before moving on to the construction phase. This stage is essential to unlock the schedule.

With the protocol in effect, the next step is organizing the requirements and forwarding the project so that the cable car becomes a reality.

What Could Happen From Now On

With the protocol signed, the next expected move is the processing of the necessary authorizations. From there, the project can proceed towards the start of construction within the window of 60 to 90 days.

If the schedule advances as planned, execution is expected to extend over 18 to 24 months, with the prospect of operation by 2027.

The most immediate impact for the region is the expectation of jobs and economic activation, with 40 direct vacancies and over 100 indirect ones related to the venture.

Points of Attention and Common Questions

The project was presented with private resources, which makes the financial structure a key aspect to monitor throughout the process.

Another relevant point is compliance with authorizations and deadlines, as the start of construction depends on the release from the competent agencies and the consolidation of the planned stages.

The creation of jobs, with 40 direct and over 100 indirect, is one of the main promised outcomes and is likely to be a closely observed indicator by the population and the tourism sector.

The signing of the letter of intent on December 16 puts Maricá on course for a new tourist attraction in the Ponta Negra Lighthouse area. The plan involves a cable car system with an estimated investment of R$ 21 million.

In addition to strengthening tourism and boosting the local economy, the initiative foresees the creation of around 40 direct jobs and over 100 indirect jobs, with the potential to energize the region and expand opportunities associated with the sector.
