Can Citizens Use Their Digital Driver’s License as an Official Document? Read This Article from Click Oil and Gas and Discover the Truth About the Matter.
In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s not uncommon for a person to leave home and forget, for example, their wallet. This can be very detrimental if the citizen needs to present any document to prove their identity. With that, the question arises: can the digital document be used as an official document?
Today, in Brazil, 42,811,056 drivers have already downloaded the Digital Driver’s License app, an electronic version of the National Driver’s License that can be accessed through the Traffic Digital Wallet (CDT) app. However, the question arises: is the document official? That is, can it be presented and have the same validity as the printed one?
The answer to this question is yes, as the Digital Driver’s License, which was created by the National Traffic Council (Contran) in 2017, has the same legal value as the printed Driver’s License. Can I Use a Screenshot of the Digital Driver’s License?
In this case, unlike the first question, the answer is no. As mentioned, the Digital Driver’s License or the Detran app of each state must be presented to replace the printed document. In other words, screenshots, that is, screen captures of the Driver’s License, have no validity at all.
How Can I Issue the Digital Document?
Today, it is easy to access a digital Driver’s License, as the document can be accessed through the app available for Android and iOS smartphones. This online version becomes available as soon as the driver is approved in the driving test or renews the Driver’s License, the system already offers the digital version of the document.
This Digital Driver’s License can also be accessed on gov.br. If the person does not have an account created, just click on “Create Your Account.” Then, the user will see some registration options, fill them out, and after that, follow the instructions and enter their personal information.
