The Kawasaki Z 650 SE 2022 is a special version of the Japanese midrange naked bike, standing out for its exclusive graphics and green-painted chassis, elements that enhance the aggressive look inspired by the Sugomi concept — a registered trademark of the Z series.

Originally launched in 2016, the Z 650 has undergone significant evolutions, and the SE edition was sold in Brazil between 2021 and 2023. With reduced weight, good ergonomics, and an economical engine, the bike has established itself as one of the most balanced options in its category.

In the used market, the Fipe Table shows an average value of R$ 39.2 thousand, while a brand new unit, already in the equivalent 2024 model, starts at around R$ 48.5 thousand at Kawasaki dealerships.

Engine, Performance, and Handling

The Kawasaki Z 650 SE 2022 uses a 649 cm³ parallel twin engine with DOHC and eight valves, delivering 68 hp of power and 6.5 kgfm of torque. The transmission is six-speed, and the assisted slipper clutch provides smooth gear changes and prevents rear wheel lock during sudden downshifts.

With a weight of 188 kg in running order, the bike is agile and easy to handle. The Kayaba suspensions — 41 mm telescopic front and rear monoshock with preload adjustment — offer a good balance between comfort and stability, even without advanced adjustments.

The reported top speed is approximately 210 km/h, with linear acceleration and quick responses, especially at medium revs.

Technologies and Equipment

The model comes with a 4.3-inch color TFT panel, Bluetooth connectivity, and integration with the Kawasaki Rideology app, which offers telemetry, consumption, range, and maintenance information directly on your phone.
The lighting features a LED headlight and taillight, while the turn signals still use halogen bulbs (switching to LED only from 2024).

The brake system consists of a dual 300 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear disc, both wavy (“daisy”) and with ABS as standard. The 17-inch wheels use 120/70 tires in the front and 160/60 in the rear.

Consumption and Daily Use

The Kawasaki Z 650 SE 2022 is recognized for its consumption efficiency. In sporty riding, it records an average between 18 and 21 km/l, potentially reaching 23-25 km/l in moderate use.
The 15-liter tank, with 4.3 liters reserved, ensures enough range for urban and highway use without frequent refueling.

The riding position is slightly inclined forward but still comfortable, with a narrow tank that facilitates leg placement and a handlebar of balanced width, favoring maneuverability.

Positive and Negative Points

Highlights include the light handling, the reliable and economical engine, the panel connectivity, and the exclusive touches of the SE version.
However, the absence of a USB port, lower spoiler, and LED turn signals are noted as areas for improvement. Another observed factor is the cost of original parts, considered high.

For those seeking a midrange naked with good torque delivery, striking design, and relatively simple maintenance, the Kawasaki Z 650 SE 2022 presents a solid option. The special edition adds personality to the model without altering the established mechanics.
