More than just a large SUV, the Mitsubishi Outlander seeks to position itself as the most sophisticated model in the manufacturer’s history, combining an imposing visual, a refined cabin, many features, and an experience focused on extreme comfort. The question that arises is inevitable: does it deliver enough content to justify this value?

The new Mitsubishi Outlander draws attention right from the first contact for adopting a bolder design proposal, far from the minimalism that dominates much of the current market. The front has a strong presence, many visual elements, and an identity already known from the brand, while the cabin bets on meticulous finishing, very comfortable seats, and an experience aimed at those who want to drive smoothly and elegantly.

At the same time, the model also exposes some limits that become more visible in this price range. Although it offers a lot of comfort, good performance, and modern mechanics, it also leaves room for criticism in aspects such as charging, consumption with a drained battery, and the functioning of some driving assist features.

Mitsubishi Outlander’s Design Bets on Imposing Presence and Its Own Identity

One of the most highlighted points in the car is its appearance. The Mitsubishi Outlander adopts a striking front end, with LED DRLs in the upper block, low and high beams in the lower block, headlight washers, and a front composition that forms the brand’s X identity.

The set also features a grille with black piano finish, chrome details, a front camera for the 360º system, adaptive cruise control radar, and parking sensors.

On the side, the SUV reinforces the feeling of size. The Mitsubishi Outlander is nearly 4.80 meters long, has 20-inch wheels with 255/45 tires, and a more squared profile, typical of a utility vehicle with a strong presence.

It is a car that truly stands out in traffic and conveys the feeling of being a more exclusive product, especially for those seeking something different from the standard seen among many rivals.

Interior Delivers High-Level Finishing and Plenty of Comfort

Inside, the Mitsubishi Outlander bets on more refined materials, genuine leather, visible stitching, and a visually well-resolved cabin.

Interior space has been praised, with good knee and headroom in the second row, as well as a dual panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, dedicated air vents, and three-zone climate control.

Another highlight is the comfort of the seats. The Mitsubishi Outlander offers electric adjustments, heating, and even massage functions for the front seats, alongside a seating proposal aimed at prolonged comfort on trips.

The evaluation report gets straight to the point: it is one of the most comfortable cars ever driven by the test author.

SUV Has 7 Seats, but the Third Row is More Limited

With all seats in use, the trunk of the Mitsubishi Outlander falls below 200 liters, which greatly limits its luggage capacity.

This may not come as a surprise in this type of configuration, but it is an important detail for those considering using all seven seats frequently. In practice, the SUV offers versatility but does not perform miracles in space with all rows open.

Embedded Technology Mixes Good Features and Some Criticized Points

The technological package of the Mitsubishi Outlander includes a comprehensive digital dashboard, a 360º camera, a head-up display, a multimedia system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, premium Bose sound, inductive charger, USB ports, a 12V outlet, and various customization features controlled via the onboard computer.

Even so, some criticisms arose. The multimedia interface was viewed as poorly integrated with the vehicle’s settings, which are concentrated in the instrument panel.

Moreover, the Mitsubishi Outlander requires manual reactivation of some systems when starting the car, such as certain driving assist features and even the auto hold in specific situations.

For a model in this price range, such details weigh more than they would in more affordable cars.

Mitsubishi Outlander’s Hybrid Set Delivers 252 hp and 4×4 Traction

In terms of mechanics, the Mitsubishi Outlander utilizes a total of three engines, consisting of two electric motors and a naturally aspirated 2.4 combustion engine.

According to the test, this thermal engine primarily operates as an energy generator for the batteries, while the electric motors are the main contributors to the vehicle’s traction.

The front motor produces 116 hp and 26 kgfm of torque, while the rear motor delivers 136 hp and 19.9 kgfm. When combined, the Mitsubishi Outlander reaches 252 hp and 45.9 kgfm of torque, with 4×4 traction and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.

The maximum speed is electronically limited to 171 km/h. This is convincing performance for a large, heavy SUV that is clearly more focused on comfort than sportiness.

Electric Range and Charging Show What the Best Use Scenario Is

The plug-in hybrid proposal of the Mitsubishi Outlander includes an electric range of 58 km, a figure that emphasizes its suitability for urban use with more efficiency when the battery is charged.

It also features EV, Save, Charge, and Normal modes, as well as different driving modes, such as Power, Eco, Tarmac, Snow, and Mud.

The issue, according to the evaluation, arises during trips. The Mitsubishi Outlander only offers slow charging, with times ranging from 5 to 10 hours, depending on voltage and available infrastructure.

This greatly reduces practicality for long-distance travel, as a short stop does not resolve the recharge.

At this point, the model loses appeal compared to competitors that already offer faster solutions for electric refueling.

Consumption Depends Heavily on Battery Level

One of the most important alerts from the evaluation involves consumption behavior when the battery is drained.

On the highway, the indicated average was between 11 and 12 km/l, potentially reaching 13 km/l under more favorable circumstances. In the city, the expectation was 7 to 8 km/l with an empty battery.

In other words, efficiency exists, but it directly depends on keeping the system charged and using the car in the scenario it was designed for.

Suspension and Comfort are the SUV’s Great Strengths

If there is one point where the Mitsubishi Outlander really stands out very clearly, it is in comfort while driving.

The independent suspension on all four wheels has been praised for its stability and ability to absorb imperfections, potholes, and bumps without compromising driving smoothness.

On the highway, the Mitsubishi Outlander gives the impression of being a very well-adjusted car, with refined handling and stable behavior even as a large SUV.

The report even compares it to German cars in terms of suspension tuning and overall comfort. This is undoubtedly one of the strongest arguments for the model to justify its premium proposal.

ADAS Exists, but Does Not Impress as Much as the Rest of the Car

Although it brings a package of driving assists, the Mitsubishi Outlander was not viewed as a reference in this aspect.

Adaptive cruise control, for example, does not automatically resume acceleration when traffic stops.

Meanwhile, the lane correction system operates in a simpler manner, using corrective braking rather than a more sophisticated steering method.

This does not mean that the set is poor, but rather that it seems less advanced than what is expected from an SUV in this price range.

When the car costs R$ 400,000, every detail is compared to a more demanding standard, and that is precisely where the ADAS package loses strength.

Mitsubishi Outlander Bets on Luxury and Comfort to Differentiate Itself

In the final balance, the Mitsubishi Outlander appears as an SUV that bets less on cost-effectiveness and more on experience.

It wants to seduce with extreme comfort, a refined cabin, good visual presence, a plug-in hybrid set, and a driving experience that is well above average in smoothness.

At the same time, the model also makes it clear that it is not perfect. Slow charging, consumption with a drained battery, and some limitations of the assists show that the Mitsubishi Outlander still makes concessions, even being the brand’s most luxurious car.

Still, for those who value comfort, exclusivity, and a different proposition from the commonplace, it presents itself as a very interesting product in the segment.
