Agribusiness Exports from Minas Gerais Reached US$ 19.8 Billion in 2025, Up 15.5% from 2024, with 43.5% of State Shipments, Down 5% in Export Volume and Leadership of Coffee, which Accounted for More Than Half of Total Revenue
The agribusiness of Minas Gerais closed 2025 with record exports of US$ 19.8 billion, a 15.5% increase from 2024, accounting for 43.5% of state shipments and a volume of 16.2 million tons, confirming the sector as the main driver of external sales for Minas Gerais.
Record Performance Consolidates Agribusiness Leadership
The result recorded in 2025 confirmed the strong performance observed throughout the year and represented the highest value ever achieved by Minas Gerais’ agricultural exports since the beginning of the historical series in 1997. The sector maintained its position as the state’s top exporter.
Despite the significant increase in revenue, the exported volume showed a decrease of approximately 5% in the total from January to December, totaling 16.2 million tons. Nevertheless, the growth in value ensured the best annual closure of the segment.

Official Evaluation Highlights Resilience and Relative Growth
According to the deputy secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply, João Ricardo Albanez, Minas Gerais’ agribusiness demonstrated strength and resilience in 2025, reaffirming its importance as a generator of employment, income, and food for Brazil and the world.
According to the secretary, Minas Gerais was the state that grew the most in external sales within the segment among the country’s main exporters, even facing an international scenario marked by economic adversities and tariff barriers, ranking third in the national ranking.
Diversity of Products and Market Expansion
The exported goods from Minas Gerais’ agribusiness included 650 products sent to 178 countries throughout 2025. The main destinations were China, with US$ 4.6 billion, the United States, with US$ 1.9 billion, Germany, with US$ 1.8 billion, in addition to Italy and Japan, both with US$ 1 billion.
João Albanez emphasized the market expansion and diversification of the product list, which included, in addition to traditional chains like coffee, soy, meat, forestry products, and the sugar and alcohol sector, the growth of items like honey, cheeses, and dulce de leche, strengthening Minas Gerais’ presence abroad.
Coffee Leads and Accounts for More Than Half of Revenue
Coffee remained the main product of Minas Gerais’ agribusiness in 2025. The combination of reduced global stocks and increasing premiums for specialty coffees positively influenced international prices and the commercialization scenario.
In the year, coffee reached US$ 11.4 billion in exports, accounting for 57.2% of the total value of Minas Gerais’ agribusiness. The exported volume was 27.4 million bags, consolidating the product as the flagship of the sector, even amidst global market fluctuations.
Meat, Soy, and Sugar-Alcohol Sector Show Distinct Results
The cattle, pork, and chicken meat segment recorded the highest export value in the entire historical series, with US$ 1.85 billion, and a volume of 513 thousand tons, marking the best performance ever observed for the sector.
The soy complex totaled US$ 2 billion in revenue and 4.7 million tons, with decreases of 9.8% in value and 1.2% in volume. Meanwhile, the sugar-alcohol complex showed a contraction of 20%, closing the year with US$ 2 billion and 4 million tons shipped.
Cheeses and Dulce de Leche Reinforce International Position
Cheeses and dulce de leche secured Minas Gerais’ leadership in exports of this segment compared to other states. Cheeses reached US$ 10 million in revenue, while dulce de leche totaled US$ 838 million.
The data indicate not only growth in revenue but also a qualitative reconfiguration of the international insertion of Minas Gerais’ products, especially those associated with the state’s productive identity.
