In December 2025, Inpasa announced the largest expansion cycle in its history, with an investment of approximately R$ 3.5 billion aimed at increasing corn ethanol production in Mato Grosso. The plan includes the construction of a new plant in Rondonópolis and the expansion of the unit in Nova Mutum, consolidating the company as the largest producer of biofuel in Brazil.

The main highlight of the package announced by Inpasa is the construction of a new corn ethanol plant in Rondonópolis, one of the largest agribusiness hubs in Mato Grosso. For this project, the company will allocate R$ 2.77 billion.
The unit will have the capacity to process 2 million tons of corn per year, producing approximately 1 billion liters of ethanol, as well as 490 thousand tons of DDGS and 47 thousand tons of corn oil annually. The operation is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027.
The location was chosen strategically. The proximity to the North-South Railway reduces logistical costs and emissions, and facilitates the flow of production to domestic and international markets.
Inpasa’s Expansion in Nova Mutum Follows Agricultural Advancement
In addition to the new industrial plant, Inpasa also confirmed the expansion of the Nova Mutum plant, which already operates in two phases. The new investment, estimated at R$ 704 million, will allow for the construction of the third phase of the unit.
With this expansion, processing capacity will increase by 1 million tons of corn per year, resulting in an additional production of 350 million liters of ethanol and 183 thousand tons of DDGS. The expectation is that the new phase will start operating in November 2026.
According to the company, the decision aligns with the consistent growth of corn production in the region. The expansion reduces supply risks and strengthens integration with local producers, a factor considered essential for the project’s sustainability.
Corn Ethanol Gains Ground in Brazil’s Energy Matrix
The advancement of Inpasa occurs in a scenario of rapid expansion of corn ethanol in Brazil. Currently, several plants are under construction in the country, while traditional sugarcane units are assessing expanding their biofuel production in light of falling sugar prices.
Although analysts point to the possibility of pressure on ethanol prices in the short term, the company adopts a cautious stance. The strategy is based on scale, efficiency, and market diversification, rather than on short-term price projections.
In addition to the fuel, DDGS is establishing itself as a strategic product, with strong demand in the animal nutrition sector and growing international acceptance.
Inpasa Finances Investment with Own Cash Generation
One of the most relevant aspects of the announcement is the way the new investment cycle is financed. According to Inpasa‘s management, all resources will come from the company’s own cash generation, without the need for intensive borrowing.
In the last five years, the company has already invested around R$ 13 billion in industrial expansions, which allowed for the construction of six new plants and the expansion of the unit in Sinop, in Mato Grosso, considered the largest ethanol plant in the world.
This history demonstrates financial solidity and execution capability, factors that support the company’s confidence in a project of this magnitude.
Logistics, Biomass, and Sustainability in Inpasa’s Plan
Security in biomass supply is another central pillar of the strategy. Inpasa maintains contracts with local producers and operates its own eucalyptus planting company to supplement the supply of wood chips used in energy cogeneration.
In the current harvest, the own planting should reach 40 thousand hectares, reducing supply risks. According to the company, Mato Grosso offers a privileged environment, with ample biomass availability and lower operational risk. In addition, the integrated logistics contributes to reducing indirect emissions, aligning the project with the sector’s sustainability goals.
DDGS Expands Exports and Global Presence of Inpasa
In addition to corn ethanol, DDGS is one of Inpasa’s main competitive differentials. The co-product of corn processing is widely used in animal feed and has a growing demand in the international market.
Currently, the company exports to 40 countries and accounts for approximately 95% of Brazil’s DDGS exports. Even with the increase in national supply, the company claims that the quality of the product ensures access to markets considered premium. Revenue diversification strengthens the business model and reduces exposure to specific fluctuations in the fuel market.
