Red Command Created Its Own Internet Provider, Imposing a Criminal Monopoly in Rio’s Communities! Residents Have No Choice: Either Pay CVNet or Be Left Without Connection. The Faction Dominates Essential Services, Strengthens Its Influence, and Drives Away Legitimate Companies, Expanding Organized Crime.

According to investigations by the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro (PCERJ), the criminal faction Red Command has started operating an illegal internet service, known as CVNet, in various communities under its control.

The provision of internet signal through this criminal provider has become a real necessity for residents, who, if they do not adhere to the service, risk facing severe consequences.

This practice demonstrates an accelerated growth in the firepower of drug trafficking, which now also controls an essential sector in people’s daily lives.

A recent operation conducted by the security forces of Rio de Janeiro revealed the functioning of a complex and clandestine network that involves not only the provision of internet but also control over fiber optic providers.

During the action, which took place in the northern zone of the city, specifically in Vicente de Carvalho, it was identified that the factions’ control over this market is similar to an illegal “bidding,” where legitimate companies are prevented from operating.

The faction, through threats of execution, prohibits the entry of any competition into the communities it controls, forcing residents to use only the internet service offered by CV.

Police Operation Reveals the Dimension of Crime

In the operation carried out by the Civil Police, several stolen equipment from legally operating companies in the telecommunications sector were seized.

The seized material will be analyzed in forensics to identify the suppliers, funders, and distributors involved in the criminal practice.

The action also resulted in the detention of four employees of the illegal internet provider, who were taken to the police station for questioning.

However, the main person responsible for CVNet was not found and will therefore be held accountable for the crime of qualified receptation, according to current legislation.

Crime Monopoly: The New Strategy of Factions Like the Red Command

The operation revealed an alarming scenario: criminal factions are increasingly expanding their areas of operation, going beyond drug trafficking and invading essential services that directly affect the lives of citizens.

By monopolizing the supply of internet, electricity, water, and gas, factions create a system of extortion and social control, which guarantees them not only financial profits but also decision-making power over communities.

The scheme is profitable and aggressive, driving legal companies out of the market and establishing a power dominance in various regions, especially in poorer communities.

By monopolizing these services, factions are able to impose abusive fees on residents, who become hostages of this criminal system.

This money is used to finance conflicts between rival factions, strengthen the purchase of weapons, and expand territories controlled by trafficking.

Impositions of Crime in Communities: More Than Just a Simple Service

The control of essential services such as internet and electricity is not just a financial matter for the factions.

By controlling these infrastructures, criminals can also strengthen internal communications of trafficking, making it difficult for security forces and police investigations to operate.

The internet networks controlled by the factions are used for clandestine communications and coordination of criminal activities within and outside the communities.

In addition, factions create a dependency among residents. Those who do not pay for the service or try to escape the drug trafficking imposition may suffer severe reprisals, such as death threats or eviction from their homes.

With the absence of the State and the impossibility of accessing legal service alternatives, residents are forced to cooperate with the factions to ensure their survival.

This control is not limited to charging for the service but also imposes a parallel power structure, where any act of resistance is punished with violence.

The Impact on Families’ Daily Lives and the Weakening of the State

The extent of the factions’ power to control essential services creates a vicious cycle that is hard to break.

In addition to financial extortions, residents face constant insecurity and the fear of reprisals.

Families forced to pay for illegal services feel that their lives are increasingly under the command of criminal groups, with no viable alternatives to escape this situation.

The weakening of the State is also evident. The presence of legitimate companies, which could provide quality services within the law, is limited or completely eliminated by the factions.

The government and competent authorities struggle to reverse this situation, as criminal groups have a strong support network within the communities.

For many people, drug trafficking and the faction that dominates the area become the only sources of power and protection.
