The State of Minas Gerais Is Now Seeking to Expand Energy Generation and a Memorandum of Understanding Was Signed with Neuman & Esser for the Construction of a New Renewable Source Enterprise, the Factory of Equipment for Green Hydrogen

Recently, the Government of the State of Minas Gerais met with the German energy company Neuman & Esser to sign a memorandum of understanding. Until this past Friday (04/29), the officially disclosed information was that the company will build a new factory for manufacturing equipment for green hydrogen production, to expand the focus on energy generation from a renewable source with the new enterprise.

Multinational Arrives in Minas Gerais with a New Enterprise for Manufacturing Equipment for Green Hydrogen

After being a reference in solar energy production in Brazil for many years, the State of Minas Gerais is now seeking new energy alternatives, focusing on the renewable source of green hydrogen, and will be the stage for Neuman & Esser’s new enterprise. Thus, the German company will build a new factory in the state for manufacturing equipment aimed at producing this resource, aiming at decarbonization of the state and the company’s operations over the coming years.

In this way, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the company and the government of the State of Minas Gerais, with an initial investment of R$ 45 million to be applied for the construction of the factory for manufacturing equipment aimed at green hydrogen production. A number of nations around the world are already encouraging the creation of production and usage projects for hydrogen aiming at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and the German company is now looking for the stage for this new enterprise in Brazil.

The company also announced that the factory will be responsible for building green hydrogen generators through electrolysis and ethanol and biogas reformers, as well as developing other technologies aimed at the energy production segment from such a renewable source. Finally, the expectation is that the project will create about 75 direct jobs at N&E’s factory, in addition to about 200 indirect jobs, thus contributing to the socioeconomic development of the State of Minas Gerais.

New Factory of Neuman & Esser Focused on Equipment for Generating Green Hydrogen Will Be Essential for the Decarbonization Process of the State

Green hydrogen is currently the most sought-after renewable source for energy generation focusing on decarbonizing processes and is up to three times more efficient than traditional fuels, in addition to being a highly abundant element on our planet. Thus, it can replace gasoline or diesel to power vehicle engines and natural gas in industry, and the German company saw in the State of Minas Gerais a great opportunity to expand its focus on this segment through the enterprise.

For his part, the Secretary of State for Economic Development, Fernando Passalio, stated that “The decarbonization actions of the current government led by Governor Romeu Zema are advancing, creating a reliable environment for the state to be a protagonist in this new green economy.” Thus, the government of the State of Minas Gerais reinforces its commitment to the production of energy from this renewable source and to the decarbonization of the current market.

The state was the first in South America to commit to the global Race to Zero campaign, aiming to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, and sees Neuman & Esser’s new factory as an opportunity to accelerate this process.
