Seeking to Tap Into the High Production Potential of the New Renewables Sector Bet in Brazil, Enel Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Ceará and Will Conduct Feasibility Studies for Projects Focused on Green Hydrogen in the Region.

Last Friday, (07/22), Enel Green Power Brazil and the Government of the State of Ceará Signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Conduct of Technical Feasibility Studies for Green Hydrogen Production Projects. This Resource is the Newest Bet of the Brazilian Energy Market, and the State of Ceará Has a Strong Attraction of Investments in the Field Due to its Production Potential.

Government of Ceará Will Count on Enel’s Help to Conduct Feasibility Studies for Green Hydrogen Production Projects 

The National Energy Market Now Turns Its Attention to Green Hydrogen Production in the Northeast and South Regions of the Country, and This Week, Enel Green Power Brazil, the Renewable Generation Arm of the Enel Group in the Country, Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Ceará. The Document Provides for the Conduct of Technical, Commercial, and Financial Feasibility Studies for Future Resource Production Projects in the Ceará Region. 

The Memorandum of Understanding Provides for a Partnership Lasting Five Years Between Enel and the Government of Ceará, Which May Be Extended if Necessary at the End of the Initial Period. The Main Objective of the Partnership is to Analyze the Assumptions That Influence the Feasibility of Green Hydrogen Production Projects, Fostering the Future Development of the Entire Production Chain in the Region.

Thus, Enel Will Act with Incentives from the State Government in an Effort to Verify the Future Feasibility of Green Hydrogen Production Projects.

Enel Believes in Green Hydrogen to Accelerate Decarbonization, Acting as a Complementary Tool in Supporting Key Economic Sectors That Seek Ways to Make Their Production Processes and Activities Cleaner, Such as the Chemical and Steel Industries, for Example,” Highlighted the Head of Business Development at Enel Green Power in Brazil, Jean Philippe Bellavia, After the Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the State Government. 

State of Ceará Has Strong Production Potential for Green Hydrogen and the Memorandum of Understanding with Enel Will Enable Projects in the Sector

In Addition to Celebrating the Finalization of the Memorandum of Understanding with the State Government of Ceará, the Head of Business Development at Enel Green Power in Brazil, Jean Philippe Bellavia, Emphasized That the Region Has a High Production Potential for the Resource and That Enel Aims to Place the State on Par with the Wind and Solar Energy Sectors, Bringing the Region into the National Ranking of Green Hydrogen Production in the Future. 

In the Short Term, Enel Will Focus on Studies for the Development of a Green Hydrogen Production Plant in the State of Ceará, Using a Water Electrolysis Process with 100% Renewable Energy. Based on the Initial Results of the Studies, the Company Will Define the Technical Criteria and Its Strategies for the Future Development of Projects for Resource Production.
