The national energy market is now turning its eyes to the production of green hydrogen in the Northeast and South regions of the country and, this week, Enel Green Power Brasil, the renewable generation arm of the Enel Group in the country, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Ceara. The document provides for technical, commercial and financial feasibility studies to be carried out for future resource production projects in the region of Ceará.
The memorandum of understanding provides for a partnership of a total of five years between Enel and the Government of Ceará, which can be extended if necessary, at the end of the initial period. The main objective of the partnership is to analyze the assumptions that influence the viability of green hydrogen production projects, fostering the future development of the entire production chain in the region.
In this way, Enel will act with incentives from the state government in order to verify the viability of green hydrogen production projects in the future.

In addition to celebrating the completion of the memorandum of understanding with the government of the state of Ceará, the Business Development Officer for Enel Green Power in Brazil, Jean Philippe Bellavia, stressed that the region has a high potential for producing the resource and that Enel intends to place the state on the same level as the wind and solar energy sectors, leading the region to the national ranking of green hydrogen production in the future.
In the short term, Enel will dedicate itself to studies for the development of a green hydrogen production plant in the state of Ceará, with a water electrolysis process using 100% renewable energy. And, based on the initial results of the studies, the company will define the technical criteria and its strategies for the future development of projects for the production of the resource.
