The German ship Bottsand splits its hull in two halves in the middle of the ocean to swallow spilled oil on the surface, separating the oil from the water inside a 790 cubic meter tank and then closing again. It is the only ship in the world factory-designed to split in half as part of normal operations, and the crew of six people who operate everything is civilian.

Furthermore, Engeman will be responsible for maintenance services involving over 20,000 pieces of equipment for work at the refineries, which will be acquired with the multimillion-dollar investment in the development of the partnership, essential for the productive growth of the São Paulo refineries.
Engeman also commented that the projections for contributions to the population of the state of São Paulo are positive, and, together with Petrobras, intends to generate over 700 jobs for residents of the refinery region, both directly and indirectly.
Thus, over the next 5 years, not only will fuel production at the refineries be expanded, but there will also be a strong contribution to the socioeconomic development of the state of São Paulo. The contract will also be important to help Engeman surpass the R$ 1 billion mark in backlog, and is vital for the company’s strategy for expansion into São Paulo.

The company’s operations director, Jobe Medeiros, commented on the scope of the new maintenance services contract at the Petrobras refineries and explained: “This contract has a new model, as it involves simultaneous operations at two large refineries in São Paulo: RPBC in Cubatão; and REPLAN, the largest refinery in Brazil, in Paulínia. We will carry out predictive, preventive, corrective maintenance, lubrication, and machining on thousands of pieces of equipment during operational campaign periods, scheduled downtime, and emergencies.”
Thus, the company is now in the mobilization phase at RPBC and planning to start mobilizing at REPLAN in early 2023, as planning is essential to maintain the quality of the contract for the next 5 years. Additionally, the Engeman executive highlighted that this is the perfect time for the company to expand its operations in the São Paulo region.
Finally, Engeman stated that the company’s main differentiator in this contract is the ability for Petrobras to meet its Operation, Maintenance, and Integrity demands in a single company, reducing interface costs and associated noise.
