Guaratuba Bridge Construction Progresses with 60% Completion, Marking a New Era in Coastal Paraná Infrastructure.
The construction of the Guaratuba Bridge, one of the most anticipated projects in Paraná, has already surpassed the 60% completion mark, according to the technical report for the month of May.
With over four decades of waiting by the population, the structure promises to transform mobility in coastal Paraná, improve tourist flow, and boost the region’s economic and urban development.
The works are progressing quickly, with active work fronts on both the bridge section and the access roads on both sides — Guaratuba and Matinhos.

A trick with joint compound transforms a Styrofoam ceiling into a plaster-like ceiling: leveled panels, wires and mesh at the joints, sand, paint, and change the environment while spending little today.
The project, which is highly complex and relevant for the State, already supports over 600 direct jobs, while positively impacting the entire surrounding area.
Robust and Modern Structure: Over 1,200 Meters in Length
The new Guaratuba Bridge will be a cable-stayed bridge with over 1,200 meters in length.
It will feature four traffic lanes of 3.60 meters each, two safety lanes of 0.60 meters, sidewalks with a bike lane of 3 meters on both sides, and guardrails.
The entire structure will be illuminated, ensuring safety and convenience for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.
According to engineer Janice Kazmierczak Soares, Technical Director of DER, the project has completed 60% of the total contract, marking an important milestone that allows the population of Paraná to visualize the real advancement of an old collective dream.
The bridge’s implementation is part of the PR-412, featuring a length of 3.07 km within the municipality of Guaratuba.

The structured accesses are divided into two fronts: one side in Guaratuba, measuring about 940 meters, and the other in Matinhos, approximately 880 meters.
On the Matinhos side, work continues with drainage, earthworks, and paving.
A total of 200,000 cubic meters of soil movement is planned, along with the execution of 50,000 square meters of paving layers — including subgrade reinforcement, sub-base, base, and asphalt surfacing.
Meanwhile, in Guaratuba, hillside lowering is underway to improve the ramp’s incline, with execution of reinforcements using anchored soil, root piles, tiebacks, and bracing beams.
Stages of the Guaratuba Bridge: Foundations, Transoms, and Slabs in Progress
In the bridge section, May marked significant advancements.
So far, 50 of the 64 foundation piles have been concreted — 17 in the cable-stayed section and 33 in the pre-cast section. The transoms that support the longitudinal beams total 12 finished units.
In the superstructure, the highlight is the fabrication of pre-cast longitudinal beams: 95 have been manufactured, and 80 have been launched on the transoms, representing 50% of the target.
Additionally, 9 of the 20 slabs of the deck in the pre-cast section have been completed.
The cable-stayed section, in turn, will comprise three additional spans, totaling 23 spans along the bridge.
In this stage, the main towers have already completed their piles and pillars, allowing for the beginning of the construction of successive cantilevers with the assembly of the advancing carriage.
One of the technical particulars of the Guaratuba Bridge is the use of the successive cantilever method, considered highly accurate for large spans.
The starting segment at support 04 has already been completed, initiating the assembly of the advancing carriage — a truss structure that will serve as a base for the concreting of subsequent segments directly on-site.
According to project authorities, this technique ensures less environmental impact and greater speed in the execution of the cable-stayed bridge.
Advancements Celebrated by Engineers and Authorities
The President of the Department of Highways of Paraná (DER/PR), Fernando Furiatti, emphasized the importance of the project:
“The pace of work execution has been progressing very well, and now we are moving even faster with this project, which will be delivered to the people of Paraná on time, ensuring more safety and quality of life for residents, visitors, and tourists on the coast of Paraná.”
DER/PR engineer, Larissa Vieira, highlighted the symbolism of the project:
“The progress of this project always symbolizes the development of the region and the realization of a dream that is now appreciated by those who dream along with the delivery of the Guaratuba Bridge.”
Janice Kazmierczak Soares, technical director of DER, also emphasized the significance of the initiative:
“The construction of the Guaratuba Bridge is undoubtedly the most iconic project in Paraná engineering in recent years, not only due to its technical complexity but also because of the challenges overcome and the significance of the project for the State.”
Economic, Social, and Tourist Impact on the Coast of Paraná
The Guaratuba Bridge promises to directly impact mobility between coastal municipalities, reducing travel time and increasing safety.
As a result, it is expected to boost regional tourism and increase the circulation of goods, benefiting commerce, hospitality, and the service sector.
Furthermore, the project has already generated over 600 direct jobs and continues to drive the local economy with labor, suppliers, and specialized companies.
Next Steps and Complementary Works
In addition to the bridge, the Government of Paraná is already preparing new work fronts in the region. The duplication of PR-412 to Praia de Leste, and eventually to Santa Catarina, is underway.
The Technical, Economic, and Environmental Viability Study (EVTEA) for the Guaraqueçaba Road will also be contracted soon, signaling the continuation of investments in infrastructure on the coast.
The construction of the Guaratuba Bridge is much more than an engineering project: it represents decades of waiting for a concrete and safe solution for connecting strategic coastal cities.
With 60% completion and a strictly adhered schedule, the project reinforces the State’s commitment to progress, mobility, and the welfare of the population.
