New Firefighter Competition 2025: Dozens of States in Brazil Announce Authorizations for New Public Competition Aiming to Fill More Than 3,000 Positions for Soldiers and Officers
If you are waiting for the chance to join the public competition for firefighters, it’s time to start studying! With at least eight announcements expected for 2025, many candidates will have the opportunity to compete for positions in this essential sector. Some of these announcements may be released as early as this year, with thousands of vacancies available, making the 2025 firefighter competition an excellent opportunity for those seeking stability and professional growth. Most of the announcements have already been authorized and, with over 3,000 vacancies, the publication process is expected to occur soon.
The opportunities of the public competition will be aimed at positions for soldiers and officers for candidates with secondary to higher education. For those eyeing an opportunity like this, we have put together a list of the main announcements that should be made in 2025:
Fire Department – Paraná
The Military Police and the Fire Department of Paraná have already defined the organizing committee, IBFC. The contract has already been signed, and it is expected that the announcement will be published in the coming days. There will be 1,700 vacancies for PM and between 300 and 600 in the 2025 firefighter competition.

Fire Department – Rio de Janeiro
The competition for the Fire Department 2025 in Rio de Janeiro already has an organizing committee defined and is expected to announce the public notice soon in 2024 or, at the latest, at the beginning of 2025. There will be 144 vacancies for soldiers and an additional 50 for combat officers. The company Idecan has been chosen to take charge of the examination.
Fire Department – Amapá
In the state of Amapá, 280 vacancies are expected in the 2025 firefighter competition for the position of Officer, with salaries that can reach R$ 8,200. The organizing committee for the examination is the Getúlio Vargas Foundation.
Fire Department – Mato Grosso
Another 2025 firefighter competition that already has a defined organizing committee is in the state of Mato Grosso. The chosen company is Selecon. However, the number of vacancies to be offered in the public competition has not yet been disclosed.
Fire Department – Maranhão
The state of Maranhão plans to hold a competition offering 1,000 vacancies for soldiers. The committee has already been formed, but the organizing committee responsible for the competition still needs to be officially confirmed.
Fire Department – Bahia
The government of Bahia has authorized a public competition announcement for firefighters with a total of 90 vacancies. Opportunities will only be offered for the position of Officer.
Fire Department – Federal District
The Federal District will offer 356 vacancies for the public firefighter competition with opportunities for soldiers and officers. The announcement has already been authorized, but the organizing committee has not yet been contracted.
Fire Department – Minas Gerais
Finally, the state of Minas Gerais has 329 vacancies available in the 2025 firefighter competition for soldiers and officers. The public competition has already received authorization, but the organizing committee has not yet been contracted.
Everything About the Main Positions in the Examination
The majority of the vacancies are aimed at the officer position, classified as Aspirant, 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant, Captain, Major, and Lieutenant Colonel.
Entry is through the Officer Training Course (CFO). The examinations for this position are more competitive and last approximately 2 years. The CFO differs from the CFSD mainly because it requires a bachelor’s degree in Law.
Another important position is that of enlisted personnel, classified as soldier, corporal, sergeant, and sub-lieutenants. After approval, the soldier student will begin a course lasting between 8 and 10 months. The graduation as military firefighter soldier, the first rank in the enlisted career, comes after the completion of the CFSD.
