Court of Accounts Creates Committee to Resolve Impasse and Ensure Progress on Salvador-Itaparica Bridge Construction
If you thought you had seen it all, brace yourself: the conflict between the Bahia government and the Chinese company responsible for the construction of the Salvador-Itaparica Bridge has taken another chapter worthy of a soap opera.
The president of the Court of Accounts of the State of Bahia (TCE-BA), Marcos Presídio, ordered the formation of a special committee to mediate the impasse between the Bahia government and the Chinese consortium in charge of constructing the Salvador-Itaparica Bridge. The official act establishing the group’s creation was published in the State Official Gazette on Monday, September 2, 2024.
The Goal Is to Adjust the Original Contract to Enable Construction
The committee will have 90 days, starting from the publication, to draft a proposed solution that satisfies both parties. At the end of August, representatives from the government and the Chinese companies requested the TCE-BA to initiate a consensual conflict resolution process. The goal is to adjust the original contract to enable the construction of the road system that includes the much-anticipated Salvador-Itaparica Bridge.

In an interview with the BandNews FM portal, Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues expressed optimism regarding the resolution of the conflict:
“My team, led by Secretary Afonso Florence, has already been in dialogue with the Chinese consortium. We are interested in building the bridge. We signed the contract in 2020, but the pandemic delayed the start of the works. There has been an increase in the prices of materials such as steel, cement, and interest rates. The consortium requested a review of the prices, which we understand to be fair.”
The governor emphasized the importance of the Court of Accounts in this process:
“The TCE-BA has made itself available to mediate. We submitted a document and hope that, in the coming months, we can reach a consensus. Meanwhile, the surveying process continues and is expected to be completed in January, allowing us to begin the construction of the Salvador-Itaparica Bridge.”
Salvador-Itaparica Bridge Was Tendered in December 2019
The Salvador-Itaparica Bridge was tendered in December 2019, but faced obstacles due to the extraordinary rise in the prices of construction materials following the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, the Chinese consortium has requested contractual adjustments and enhancements to enable the project’s continuity.
With the mediation of the TCE-BA and the formation of the new committee, there is hope that the conflict will finally be resolved and that the construction of the Salvador-Itaparica Bridge can progress without further setbacks. It remains for the people of Bahia to await the next chapters of this saga and hope for a happy ending.

Bahia PT **** e sua quadrilha de sempre, tenho vergonha de ser nordestino, principalmente baiano, graças a Deus não dependo e nunca dependi de político, mais assim como na política tem coisa ruim, ou fanáticos oportunistas inconscientes lunáticos dependentes de migalhas, faz com a Bahia e o Nordeste seja o que é, povo sujo que não tem vergonha de depender e viverem a mercês da miséria partidária, infelizmente!!
Isso vai render até próximo a eleição para governador, aí sim vai andar para enganar os **** e reeleger Gerônimo Rodrigues.
Esta ponte não tem viabilidade por falta de demanda!!!! Então o Estado terá cobrir o buraco que impede que estado investe em coisas mais prioritárias do estado e da população!!!!!!!!
