The Plan Highlights IBP’s Commitment to a More Sustainable and Competitive O&G Industry.

The Board of Directors of the Brazilian Institute of Oil, Gas and Biofuels (IBP) approved, on this Tuesday (07/14), the entity’s new strategic plan, which will take effect after being submitted to the General Assembly of the Institute, to be scheduled for August.

The strategic planning process of the IBP was one of the main projects requested by the Board to the management of President Clarissa Lins, who took office in November 2019.

With the assistance of the international consulting firm BCG, the planning involved intense engagement from the entity’s top management, maintaining the pace of activities even during the pandemic and remote work.

The pillars of the new strategic plan include the revision of the Institute’s mission, vision, values, and principles, the clear definition of operational segments – both for the portfolio of products and services and for advocacy activities – a complete review of governance and its organizational structure. The Board also proposed removing the reference to biofuels in the name of the IBP. Thus, it will be called Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas.

The document proposes that the mission of the IBP is to promote the progress of the energy sector, emphasizing the continuous development of a competitive and sustainable oil and gas industry, aligned with generating broad benefits for society. The new vision is anchored in making Brazil’s oil and gas industry a global reference in competitiveness and sustainability.

The proposed new governance is based on decision-making efficiency, through a leaner structure, effective decision-making processes, and greater professionalization of the IBP’s management, taking into account an integrated view of the oil and natural gas chain. The values and principles that permeate the Institute’s activities advocate for integrity, transparency, and ethics; a safe, open, and competitive business environment; the highest SMS standards, coupled with the continuous reduction of environmental and climate impacts; and commitment to job and income generation, technology, and socially responsible action.

“The new strategic plan of the IBP received broad and unrestricted engagement from the board members, the executive board, and the executive secretaries, for which I am very grateful. I am convinced that the new plan repositions the Institute to deal with the challenges and opportunities facing the energy industry, confirming its role and relevance to Brazilian society” says Clarissa Lins.
