The Wind Turbines Will Be Divided Into Four Wind Power Parks in Rio Grande do Norte – RN
Copel has begun the installation of 26 wind turbines in the State of Rio Grande do Norte – RN. The construction has been named Jandaíra Wind Complex. Already with the environmental licenses, the project has R$ 411 million in investments from the State Government. In the first phase of execution of this project, the construction will focus on preparing the area for the installation of the wind turbines, such as earthworks and mobilization of equipment.

According to Copel, the 26 wind turbines will be divided among four wind power parks, two in Jandaíra and two in Pedra Preta, municipalities in RN, totaling a power capacity of 90.1 megawatts, a capacity sufficient at this moment to meet the demand. Approximately 250,000 people will benefit from this source of clean and renewable energy, potentially seeing a significant reduction in their electricity bills.
Construction of the Copel Wind Energy Complex
Still this month of January, the works are expected to begin. The removal of vegetation, cleaning of the site, and opening of accesses where the wind turbines will be installed is a priority in this first phase of the works, in addition to the installation work of the Jandaíra Substation (230 kV). This project is already aimed at a more ecological future for RN, with the potential to expand throughout the country.

Inauguration of the Copel Complex
The Government of RN and Copel set a deadline for the Wind Energy Complex to start operating by 2022, around July. The high expectations of everyone in the state bring encouragement and very positive points to the government and the company, which has increasingly dedicated itself to ensuring that this project succeeds, gains visibility, and recognition, not only in Brazil but also internationally, since other countries already have wind farms as a source of energy, with China being a pioneer in this aspect.
