Power Supply Will Start In 2025 And The Wind Complex Construction Should Begin In 2020
October 21 – The Brazilian energy utility Copel (BVMF: CPLE6) received 90 MW of wind projects in the latest energy auction in the country. The company will build a new wind complex in the state of Rio Grande do Norte called the Jandaíra Wind Complex. Composed of four wind farms, the project should start next year. It will require investments of BRL 400 million (US $ 97.2 million / EUR 87 million).
Copel secured 20-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) at a price of BRL 98 per MWh. According to the auction guidelines, power supply will begin in 2025.
Currently, Copel is the sixth largest wind energy generator in Brazil and the second largest in Rio Grande do Norte, with a portfolio of five operational wind complexes and a combined installed capacity of 643.4 MW, enough to meet the demand of 2 million people.
