OneSubsea Signs Million-Dollar Contract for Supply of Christmas Trees to Petrobras’ Oil Fields in Brazil
The market for support services in oil and natural gas exploration has been growing significantly in recent years, and OneSubsea is now following the sector’s recovery.
The company has formed a partnership with state-owned Petrobras worth around US$ 100 million to US$ 150 million for the supply and installation of subsea Christmas trees in the oil company’s exploration fields.

The German ship Bottsand splits its hull in two halves in the middle of the ocean to swallow spilled oil on the surface, separating the oil from the water inside a 790 cubic meter tank and then closing again. It is the only ship in the world factory-designed to split in half as part of normal operations, and the crew of six people who operate everything is civilian.

With a length of 225 meters and a capacity of 76 thousand tons, this ship “sinks” its own deck down to 28 meters deep to accommodate war destroyers, oil platforms, and giant radars floating above, and then emerges with everything intact on top like a colossal tray crossing oceans.
The million-dollar contract provides for the initial installation of 12 Christmas trees in various production areas of the state-owned company in the national territory.
Additionally, the company is moving towards establishing a new partnership with Petrobras over the coming months, also for support services in oil and natural gas fields.
According to speculation, the agreement will include a total of 15 Christmas trees, electro-hydraulic distribution units, and associated services in the Búzios 10 production system project in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin.
Thus, the General Director of OneSubsea, Carlos Tadeu, celebrated the arrival of the company’s new contract in the national market and stated that this partnership opens up opportunities for strong growth in the oil and gas sector.
Moreover, he emphasized that the fuel exploration scenario is heading towards a more sustainable future and hopes that the company can contribute not only to Petrobras’ fields but to the entire national market.
Finally, the executive also highlighted that he sees new opportunities beyond Christmas trees, such as Hisep, a technology developed and patented by Petrobras for the separation and reinjection of CO2 present in oil in reservoir rocks.
Learn About the Subsea Christmas Trees That the State-Owned Company Contracted from OneSubsea
Although they receive this name, subsea Christmas trees are equipment that can weigh up to nearly 90 tons used in the extraction of oil and gas.
They play an essential role in controlling the flow and flow rate of oil and natural gas in onshore and offshore exploration wells.
Their main functionality is to distribute the oil to the equipment that is part of the refining process, ensuring greater efficiency in fuel exploration.
