Creta, Kicks And T-Cross Lead SUV Sales In The Market In May. The Corolla Cross Had A Positive Performance, Rising In The Ranking, But Was Unable To Surpass Its Rivals, Finishing In 5th Place.

Due to the holidays, May had one less business day compared to April. This initially makes any drop in market sales justifiable. However, unlike the general market, which fell almost 12%, the SUV segment showed resilience. Some models, such as the Creta, Kicks, and T-Cross, recorded an increase in sales in May, surpassing the Corolla Cross and consolidating their position as the best-selling SUVs of the month.

How Were The Registrations Of The Best-Selling SUVs?

Only the T-Cross closed with 6,501 registrations against 6,224 from the previous period, according to data from Fenabrave. The association, which brings together the dealers in the country, also points out that the vice-leader Nissan Kicks, also among the best-selling SUVs, recorded an increase in figures. It jumped from 4,582 units to 5,916 from April to May.

Thus, it moved from fifth to second position from one month to the next. Although it remained in third place among the best-selling SUVs, the Hyundai Creta jumped from 5,335 to 5,739 registrations.

While the Creta, Kicks, and T-Cross celebrate, other vehicles recorded a drop in sales. The Chevrolet Tracker fell from second place in April to fourth place in May. Respectively, 5,670 and 4,613 units sold. On the other hand, the Toyota Corolla Cross benefited from the facelift received in April.

As a result, it moved from tenth place in April, with (3,754 registrations) to fifth place in the May ranking, with its 4,565 registrations. However, it still was not able to surpass the Creta, Kicks, and T-Cross.

The Best-Selling SUVs Of May

The Creta, Kicks, and T-Cross were the SUVs that stood out the most in the market this month of May. The Creta has been one of Hyundai’s most popular vehicles, and the 2024 version delivers several updates and improvements over previous models. The model has prices ranging from R$ 137,990 to R$ 181,990. The Creta is equipped with a 1.5 Turbo engine with 160 hp.

The Kicks, for its part, was the 10th best-selling car of the last year and rose significantly in the ranking. All versions of the Nissan Kicks use the same 1.6 four-cylinder flex aspirated engine with 113 hp on ethanol and 110 hp on gasoline  and 15.3 and 15.3 kgfm, respectively, of torque. The transmission is always automatic CVT.

Finally, the T-Cross features a typical SUV look, bringing a short rear and a more rectangular shape. Leading the ranking, the model has a 1.0 turbo flex engine with 128 hp and 20.4 kgfm, the T-Cross performs well, especially in urban roads. In its Highline version, the model costs around R$ 175,990.

Understand What Made The Corolla Cross Rise In The Ranking

When it launched the facelift of the Corolla Cross at the end of April, Toyota planned to increase sales of the medium SUV. However, even the brand did not imagine such great acceptance from the public.

The model has been selling more than the eternal rival Jeep Compass. In the 2025 lineup, the model innovated in terms of design and equipment list.

In addition to the front design, which adopted a new grille integrated into the bumper and headlights with a new internal layout, one of the main highlights is the availability of the electronic parking brake. Thus, an old public request was met, and the car abandoned the pedal command.
