Goiás Gains Strength With Aclara’s Advancement, Promising to Consolidate Its Position as One of the Leading Rare Earth Suppliers in Brazil
Aclara Resources, one of the leading miners of rare earths, announced a significant update in the mineral resource estimate for the Carina Module, located in Goiás. With an impressive increase of 77% in inferred mineral resources, the company is strategically positioning itself in the rare earth market, especially in the context of the growing global demand for these crucial elements for sustainable technologies, such as electric vehicles and wind turbines, according to brasilmineral. Have you ever imagined finding a deposit with millions of tons of rare earths and other minerals, only to discover that this deposit was just the tip of the iceberg? That’s exactly what happened… The deposit was nothing less than 77% larger than expected.
The new report from Aclara reveals that the Carina Module now has 298 million tons of inferred mineral resources, compared to the 168 million tons previously reported in December 2023. Moreover, the quantities of magnetic elements, such as dysprosium and terbium (heavy rare earths), have increased significantly, as have those of neodymium and prasodymium (light rare earths). This advancement not only highlights the project’s potential in Goiás but also places Aclara in a prominent position in the global race for rare earths.
The Rise of Goiás in the Global Rare Earth Landscape
With this substantial increase in resources, Goiás consolidates its importance on the global mining map. Aclara Resources, by expanding its operations in the state, demonstrates the strategic relevance of the region for rare earth extraction. These raw materials are essential for the production of permanent magnets, which are fundamental in the manufacturing of electric vehicles and wind turbines, pillars of the global energy transition.

The location of the Carina Module, with deposits close to the surface, provides the miner with a significant advantage in terms of operational costs. Additionally, Aclara’s patented metallurgical recovery process, known as “Circular Mineral Harvesting“, offers an innovative and sustainable approach to extracting these elements, minimizing the environmental footprint of the operation.
Expansion and New Challenges for Aclara Resources
The expansion of Aclara’s mineral rights in the Carina Module, with the acquisition of new adjacent areas, opens doors for future explorations and optimizations. This not only strengthens the miner’s position in Goiás but also sets the stage for the company to continue advancing in its pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.

Barry Murphy, COO of Aclara Resources, emphasized the importance of this mineral resource update as a crucial milestone for the production of heavy rare earth carbonate at the Carina deposit. He also highlighted that the company is well-positioned to convert inferred resources into measured and indicated resources, in addition to optimizing processes and advancing in critical areas, such as environmental and social licensing.
The Promising Future of Aclara Resources in Goiás
The next steps for Aclara include the completion of a preliminary economic assessment of the Carina Module, expected in September 2024, and the continuation of a drilling campaign aimed at converting mineral resources into more reliable categories. The company also plans to install and operate a new pilot plant in Goiás by the second quarter of 2025, aiming to validate processing parameters and demonstrate the sustainability of the project.
With these advancements, Aclara Resources reinforces its commitment to Goiás and to sustainable mining, preparing to play an even more relevant role in the global supply of rare earths, essential for the green economy of the future.
