The price difference is that, in December 2000, the Volkswagen Gol cost R$ 16,599. Applying an inflation of 324.94% until January 2025, the corrected value would be R$ 70,536. In other words, the price increased by R$ 53,937 just due to inflation adjustment.

To calculate how much the Volkswagen Gol 2000 would cost today, the accumulated inflation rate over the last 24 years was applied. The calculation was made using the Broad Consumer Price Index (IPCA), which measures Brazil’s official inflation.

According to the collected data, from December 2000 to January 2025, the accumulated inflation was 324.94%. This percentage was applied to the original value of the vehicle to obtain its corrected price.

The Final Price of the Volkswagen Gol in 2025

Now comes the big question: how much would the Volkswagen Gol 1000 cost in 2025 just with inflation adjustment?

Applying the index of 324.94% to the original price of R$ 16,599, the updated value of the car would be R$ 70,536.

This amount is still below the prices of the cheapest popular cars currently in Brazil, such as:

Fiat Mobi: starting at R$ 72,990
Renault Kwid: starting at R$ 72,790
Citroën C3: starting at R$ 72,990

Even with this adjustment, the Gol 2000 would still be cheaper than the most basic models available in the current market.

Is It Worth Buying a Gol 2000 Today?

Despite being an iconic car with a competitive price even after inflation adjustment, there are some factors to consider before buying a Volkswagen Gol 2000 these days.

The model does not have airbags, ABS brakes, and other items that are mandatory in modern cars. A car over 20 years old may exhibit natural wear and need frequent maintenance. There are newer used models available at the same price range.
