IMD Launches Initiative to Combat Shortage of Professionals in the Technology Sector. Institution Opens Hundreds of Positions in Free IT Courses. Learn How to Participate in IT Courses and Work in the Field.
The Digital Metropolis Institute (IMD/UFRN), aiming to combat the shortage of professionals in the market, has recently announced a public notice for a selection process for its new class of free IT courses (Information Technology), starting in 2025. In total, there are 580 spots available for IT courses in the Natal hub, aimed at candidates who are currently enrolled in or have completed high school.
How Will the Free IT Courses Be Taught?
With a focus on combating the shortage of professionals in the IT market, the free courses have a basic module common to all entrants and then the training unfolds into several emphases in the following areas: Computer Science for the Internet, Computer Networks, Game Programming, Internet of Things, and Artificial Intelligence.
The free IT courses operate in a hybrid format: in the first semester, teaching will be predominantly remote, with scheduled in-person meetings. However, starting in the second semester, while some courses will remain hybrid, others will have daily in-person classes.

Two new features will characterize this selection process for IT courses, according to the coordinator of the Technical Courses at IMD, Professor Marcel Oliveira. The first is the opening of opportunities for open competition, after two years of availability for students from the public education system.
The second is that the approved students in this selection will be the first to be offered the new emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI), along with other pre-existing ones. By offering technical training with Artificial Intelligence, IMD is fulfilling its role of always being at the forefront of training in the IT field. Two years ago, the Internet of Things course was launched, and now the AI course is being launched.
How to Register for Free IT Courses?
Registrations for IT courses will open this Tuesday, the 19th, and can be made until December 8th, through the Comperve website, with a fee of R$ 30, which must be paid by December 9th.
The selection process for the free IT courses will consist of evaluating the school performance of candidates, based on the analysis of the average grades in Mathematics and Portuguese obtained by students during the 9th year of elementary school.
The final result of the selection for the free courses is expected to be announced on December 17th. Candidates approved in the regular call must submit documentation between January 28th and February 3rd, 2025.
The list of those selected for the second call will be published on February 14th, and candidates in this phase will have the period from the 17th to the 19th of the same month to submit the documentation.
Enrollment for the first semester of the courses must be carried out by students between March 10th and 13th, 2025, through SIGAA. Classes are scheduled to start on March 17th of the same year.
Understand the Shortage of Professionals in the IT Market
The information technology market in Brazil faces a challenge, which is the growing shortage of qualified professionals. A report from Google for Startups, from 2023, predicts that Brazil will have a deficit of 530,000 IT professionals by 2025. This deficit is due to an imbalance between the supply of jobs and the availability of talent.
One of the main causes is the progressive demand for technological services and solutions. As companies from various sectors seek to digitize and adopt new technologies, the need for professionals in areas such as software development, information security, data analysis, and network infrastructure increases.

Mas td mundo me barrou e depois foi a vida, nunca tive pais nem emprego e condições de pagar esses cursos, só sei q aos 2 anos eu sabia física, aos 3 eu consertava eletrônicos sozinha com durex, aos 4 aprendi alemão sozinha mesmo mal sabendo escrever , latim aos 9, inglês fluente em 4 meses aos 11 pra 12 anos e no total entendo e falo 13 línguas, sou artista desenhista e ganhei anos atrás qdo ainda tinha computador, 5 títulos internacionais en desenho e arte em primeiro lugar, fiz o design de um programa q disseram q foi o melhor programa e criei o Pinterest 14 anos antes dele existir mas o Pc pifou e fiquei sem internet e um monte de **** me trancou anos numa casinha eu ligava pra polícia q desligava na cara dizendo ser trote e eu fui pros 31kg. Muita coisa ruim,gente ruim me arrasou com minha vida, a ex sogra quebrou até minha guitarra gótica elétrica, pq eu antigamente tive uma banda death metal japonês e europeu de cover e música própria e cantava e tocava e o povo gostou qdo fui ao vivo eu tb gostei,eu escrevia letras enfim,nasci com uns dons mas deu td errado. Trabalhei pra vivo q me pedia pra roubar das clientes e recusei, disse q trabalharia de forma honesta e mesmo eu atendendo SAC técnico em 3 línguas eu ganhava menos de 200 reais ao mês e após anos me mandaram embora pq fiquei surda da infecção da falta de higiene na empresa e n me aposentaram e 10 ànos depois removeram registro em carteira. Estive todos esses anos atras de curso gratuito pra ganhar o mínimo pra pagar aluguel e sobreviver, e sou mulher, saí de sp pq tava mto caro depois da pandemia quase morri de novo de fome lá, no Paraná TODOS os empregos de doméstica ou hotel/qualquer coisa pagam 1600-1900 no mínimo e geralmente 2400-3800 pra restaurantes ou cortar frango,mas tentei e saí roxa tomada por doença e n posso trabalhar e a médica recusou me encostar. Sem dinheiro pra comprar a pomada cara pra tratar a doença,eu corpo n aguenta +. Mas eu n teria coragem de pagar cursos caros pra ganhar 2mil. Porém se vc me der laptop emorestado, pagar aluguel de 1500 q é a média aqui + internet água e luz, faço treinamento e aceito trabalhar por 2 mil por 2-3 anos pq estou com poucos dias me sobrando de moradia e ganho 100 reais ao mês, n consigo pagar aluguel, água e luz. Meu contato spardakonekosama. Pfvr n complica q o celular trava mto. Duvido q vc irá levar isso a sério pq ninguém me dá valor no Brasil,me enxotam até na padaria por estar machucada, mas home office consigo fazer. Acho ridículo o pagamento pra quem se matou anos pra se estudar e pagou horrores de curso mas eu gostaria de ficar viva pra juntar 20mil pra ir no hospital Albert Einstein. Obg.
Parem com essas notícias click bait que o pessoal fica querendo migrar de area achando que vai ter oportunidade na area de ti e isso nao é a realidade. Nao tá faltando pessoal na area de ti, tem até de mais so olhar as vagas no linkedin, todas com mais de 100 candidaturas em menos de 1h.
O que falta é mão de obra qualificada, e é esse o ponto a area de ti tem que despender de muito tempo de estudo e estudo continuo. Se acha q vir pra essa area é sinonimo de ganhar muito e fazer pouco ta indo pro lugar errado.
Fora que algumas vagas exigem muito e oferecem pouco, exigem certificações que custam em torno de 7k, mas oferecem 2k pra uma vaga de Analista por exemplo… Querem Itil, Agile, Scrum, AWS, Cisco, que não são baratas, mas oferecem basicamente salário mínimo. Então, concordo com você, profissionais, tem, e os bem qualificados às vezes desistem da vaga na entrevista,quando vêem que o salário e muito abaixo do que exigem, querem um profissional de excelência, por um preço medíocre….
