CBF Keeps R$ 2.9 Million Cars Stopped Since 2023 and Faces Criticism for Poor Management and Excessive Spending
Ten brand new vehicles, valued at R$ 2.9 million, have been sitting idle at dealerships of Fiat in Rio de Janeiro since November 2023. The cars were delivered as part of the final phase of a sponsorship contract between the automaker and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), signed in 2019 and concluded in February 2023.
The agreement with Fiat called for the provision of R$ 6 million in new cars per year for four years. The aim was to support men’s, women’s, Olympic, and youth teams.
At the end of the contract, an estimated balance of R$ 3 million remained, settled with the delivery of the ten vehicles. The current management of CBF, led by Ednaldo Rodrigues, has not collected the cars.

Scientists revealed 11 signs that very intelligent people exhibit in their daily lives, and most people have no idea that some of these common behaviors are directly linked to an above-average brain.
Among the parked models are eight Jeep Commander Overland, valued at R$ 309,990 each, one Jeep Compass costing R$ 154,990, and one Fiat Mobi priced at R$ 77,990. Even without use, the vehicles generated an expense of R$ 113.5 thousand in vehicle tax (IPVA) for 2024.
Ednaldo Rodrigues has already received, during the contract, three armored Jeep Commanders. The cost of the armor was R$ 210 thousand, paid by CBF. Three Jeep Compass were also allocated for the escort of the executive.
Since the beginning of the partnership with Fiat, CBF has received 124 vehicles. Part of them was used as prizes, raffled among fans or sent to federations and clubs. In 2023, for example, goalkeeper Luciana from Ferroviária (SP) received a Fiat Pulse after winning the Copa América.
Despite the fleet received, CBF contracted external transportation services. One of them, provided by the company of Anderson Castro de Souza, personal driver of Rodrigues, charged R$ 158 thousand in March 2022 to transport 36 executives from the airports in Rio to the headquarters of the confederation. Estimates suggest that the same route, via app, would cost less than R$ 11 thousand.
In the same year, the entity recorded a net revenue of R$ 1 billion. Yet, it has accumulated 43 protests in court amounting to R$ 2.6 million, a value close to that of the parked cars.
In 2024, an unusual issue drew attention: the repair of the remote control for the television used by Dorival Júnior had a payment delayed for almost two weeks. The amount, less than R$ 150, was only settled after authorization from the presidency.
Former employees reported management failures. A former staff member stated that she found disorganized contracts and payments without records. “I got the impression that the disorganization was intentional,” she told piauí magazine.
