The solution for easy and ecological construction. Modular kit homes that you assemble in days. Flexibility and sustainability for your home
The VIMOB kit house construction concept comes from Colombia and allows you to receive a kit house with walls and roof… And you only need a few days to assemble and disassemble it, in case you need to move!
Modular Homes: A Rising Trend
Around the world, alternative housing to traditional buildings are gaining popularity among homeowners. They are often more affordable and quicker to build, which makes them increasingly attractive. In Colombia, the company VIMOB offers a modular housing system: houses delivered in kits to be assembled, disassembled and reassembled elsewhere if you decide to change location.

Origin and Development of the VIMOB System
The architecture studio Colectivo Creativo has been developing the VIMOB system since 2015 and has already delivered several modular homes. A recent update on its Facebook page on January 14, 2022 suggests that the concept will be commercialized this year. We present this intelligent system that allows you to build your own home, without the need for tools, or with very few… And take it with you if you decide to move!
What is VIMOB?
VIMOB is an industrialized modular housing system. The house is designed and manufactured in a factory, then shipped as a kit to the installation site. The modular parts and structure allow for quick installation using a minimum of tools. Thanks to their panel-to-assemble principle, these kit homes can be transported to hard-to-reach areas, while reducing environmental impact. But VIMOB is also an environmentally friendly concept that reduces raw material waste and transport costs. These kit houses also reduce the impact on the places where they are built, as well as construction deadlines.
Self-construction becomes easy with VIMOB
Building your own home is the dream of many citizens around the world. But self-building a house, whether made of cement blocks or wood, is a project that requires certain prior knowledge. According to the company VIMOB, its kits do not require special knowledge and very few tools; just assemble the pieces and panels one by one, as if following the assembly plan for a LEGO box or an IKEA piece of furniture. The development of these ecological homes is becoming more and more democratized. Future homeowners can avoid a 20- or 25-year mortgage and move quickly into their new home. The first VIMOB house was installed in the Matapalo region, an isolated area of the country. This is also one of the strengths of these modular homes: they can be assembled in the most remote locations.
Four models for VIMOB
VIMOB kit houses are aimed at both couples without children and families with children. The Colombian company offers four different models, with surfaces ranging from 28,5 m² to 113,8 m². Each of the proposed structures is composed of particleboard panels and a pine roof. They chose wood because it can be produced locally and from sustainable forests. Furthermore, wood gives a feeling of large space. Thus, in the S model, which offers 28,5 m² of surface, we find a bedroom, a kitchen, a living room and a bathroom. The necessary, but not the superficial, is the essence of these modular kits. We do not know if VIMOB is exported outside of Colombia and we did not find any indication of prices.
VIMOB presents an innovative and sustainable solution for those who want flexible, ecological and economical housing. Modular kit homes are not only a practical option for remote locations, they also represent an opportunity to reduce environmental impact and construction costs. With its easy assembly and transportation, VIMOB stands out as an attractive alternative in the sustainable housing market.
