The Fourth UMS to Be Bid On Recently by Petrobras Will Accommodate 170 People and Will Support Services in the Espírito Santo and Campos Basins
Petrobras announced last Monday (05/27) a bidding notice for the charter of a UMS (Maintenance and Safety Unit) for 170 people involving a contract lasting 3 years, starting in 2020.
The flotel must have a dynamic positioning system DP2 as stipulated in the notice, and Petrobras will conduct the bidding in the same manner as the last two UMS, that is, the reverse auction model.
Petrobras has scheduled the delivery of proposals for June 25, but it may be postponed due to the company’s acknowledgment that the deadline for suppliers to formalize the proposals is short.
The capacity of the UMS will be around 240 places since the 170 requested in the notice do not account for the crew or Petrobras’s team.

However, an unease has already been created, as the units currently available in the market have fewer than 100 places or more than 300, which leads the market to understand that Petrobras wants to charter a larger unit for a lower price.
The UMS must be available 180 days after the signing of the contract, which may be renewed for 545 days if Petrobras requires it, and the unit should begin operations in the second quarter of 2020.
