Apple Plans to Revolutionize the Market with the Launch of the Foldable iPhone, Projected Sales of 20 Million Units. Here’s What to Expect from This Model.
Apple is heavily investing in the development of a foldable iPhone, which promises to technically surpass all similar models already released on the market. With rumors growing, details are starting to paint a picture of high expectations. The bet is on a robust and innovative design that combines Apple’s expertise with the experience already established by Samsung in the segment.
Partnership with Samsung Display
As with other models in the iPhone line, the screen of the foldable device will be supplied by Samsung Display. Although LG Display is already a partner of Apple on other projects, the exclusivity with Samsung in this case makes sense.
The South Korean giant is responsible for the panels used in the popular Galaxy Fold, known for their durability and image quality.

Expected Innovations of the Foldable iPhone
Apple promises to deliver a differentiated product focused on two main aspects:
- Screen Durability: The idea is to create a more resistant panel, minimizing damage from drops or repeated folds.
- Unnoticeable Crease: Another challenge will be to reduce the visible crease on the screen as much as possible, something that still bothers competitors’ models.
These improvements are essential to justify the high expected price and attract consumers to a market that is still taking cautious steps.
Ambition Versus Reality
The production target is ambitious: between 15 and 20 million units per year. Comparatively, Samsung has struggled to sell more modest numbers of its Galaxy Fold and Flip.
The latest generation of these devices had reduced targets to about 5 million units, indicating that public acceptance is still limited.
Advancement in the Project
According to Korean insider Yeux1122, Apple is speeding up the development of the device, whose official name has not yet been defined. The expectation is that the launch will occur in 2025, marking a new chapter for the company.
Mark Gurman, a respected Apple analyst based in California, described the future foldable iPhone as “the best device Apple has ever created and a game changer.”
Meanwhile, Ming-Chi Kuo, another reliable source, revealed that the device will feature an 8-inch screen, significantly larger than the 6.86 inches of the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
If Apple meets its targets, the foldable iPhone could redefine the smartphone market. However, the challenge will be balancing high expectations with the reality of a still-maturing market.
