New Line Was Acquired by the Company in Lot 2 of the December 2018 Auction and Has Operational Synergy with Another Project Under Construction in the Southeast Region
In an official statement to the press today (15), Neoenergia obtained the installation license that authorizes the construction of the transmission line and substation that make up the Guanabara project. The enterprise was acquired by the company in lot 2 of the auction held by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) in December 2018. The document was issued by Ibama (Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources).
The transmission line will be 328 kilometers long, with a double circuit, and a voltage of 500 kV. Additionally, a new substation, Campos 2, will be built, and two other substations will be expanded: the Rio terminal and Lagos. All assets are located in Rio de Janeiro.
The project has operational synergy with another Neoenergia project, the Itabapoana line, which is under construction between the states of Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, and Rio de Janeiro. Combining the two lots, there are 567 kilometers of lines.

Even facing a shortage of professionals, the construction industry generated 31,099 formal jobs in February, once again driving the labor market in Brazil and showing that it still fuels the economy.
The objective of implementing the new enterprises is to expand the transmission grid to strengthen the flow of energy between the Northeast and Southeast regions. “Transmission is important for the security and reliability of the electric sector and, consequently, for the economic development of the regions. We are advancing with our projects, contributing to the economy of our areas of operation,” says the Director of Transmission and Subtransmission Projects, Fabiano Uchoas.
The works also contribute to job creation. For the implementation of the Guanabara project, the company’s expectation is to generate 2,660 direct jobs and nearly 4,000 indirect jobs. Access the Official Application Channel here.
