The Internal Supply of Elgin’s São Paulo Factory Now Becomes Even More Efficient with Investments in Expanding the Capacity of the Solar Power Plant, with the Acquisition of New Systems and Modernization of the Complex.

This Friday, (08/05), the refrigeration company Elgin is taking another step towards more renewable production at its factory in Mogi das Cruzes, in the interior of São Paulo, as it has managed to expand its production capacity to 2.3 MW at the solar power plant in the region. Thus, the São Paulo production chain of the company is now even more efficient and sustainable, reducing environmental impacts.

Elgin’s Solar Power Plant in São Paulo Expands Production Capacity to 2.3 MW, Ensuring More Efficiency in Supplying the Factory

Elgin recently announced that it has significantly increased its solar energy production capacity at its generation plant for supplying the Mogi das Cruzes factory in São Paulo. Thus, the administrative and manufacturing operations of the facility will be supplied more efficiently and will also contribute to the global environmental agenda, reducing the impacts of non-renewable energy production.

The Elgin factory in Mogi das Cruzes is currently used for the production and storage of equipment in the areas of air conditioning, refrigeration, and automation, and has more than 800 employees working on-site.

Now, the solar power plant that supplies the facility has increased its production capacity from 1.8 MW to 2.3 MW, a significant leap for internal supply. The company has been investing in system expansion and, after the improvements, the plant now has 6,300 panels installed on the roof, spread over an area of about 13,000 square meters.

The company’s investment in structural improvements for solar energy production now guarantees more security in the transmission of the resource.

This can occur both directly to the factory and to the city’s electrical distribution network, for receiving credits or deductions on the energy bill.

The production capacity has become so high that the Elgin plant alone could supply approximately 10,000 homes, considering an average consumption of 300 kWh/month.

Elgin Reaffirms Its Commitment to the Global Environmental Agenda by Investing in Expanding Its Solar Power Production in SP

In addition to providing more energy security to the production of its Mogi das Cruzes factory, the expansion of solar energy generation at Elgin’s plant will also ensure a series of benefits for the environment.

This is because, with the fully renewable production of the resource, the company will be able to avoid CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, and according to Elgin’s assessments, the estimated reduction since the beginning of the plant’s operation is 5,600 tons of CO2 that have not been released into the environment.

The plant also reflects the scenario of national energy transition, as the industrial market is now turning to more sustainable alternatives in its production, as seen in the refrigeration company’s factory, which relies on its own and completely renewable production supply.

Thus, Glauco Santos, director of Elgin’s solar energy division, emphasizes the company’s commitment to sustainability: “Investing in photovoltaic projects within the company reinforces our vision of believing in the technology we provide to our customers. We are always looking for alternatives that guarantee a sustainable operation from clean energy sources.”
