The Semiconductor Chip Crisis Is Already Affecting The Main Automakers In The Automotive Industry And, To Avoid Losses Due To The Scarcity Of Raw Materials, The Multinational Volkswagen Removed The Multimedia Panel From The Fox Versions
Like several automakers, Volkswagen is struggling with the semiconductor chip crisis in the automotive market. In practice, the crisis has led the multinational to cut equipment in the production of various vehicles, as is the case with the Fox, which had its multimedia panel removed and is being sold without the accessory in its two versions.

Multimedia Center Compatible With Android Auto And Apple Car Play
The multimedia center that was sold in the Fox is the same present in the Gol. The component removed due to the semiconductor chip crisis had a touchscreen and compatibility with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, making it one of the most advantageous options in the automotive market.
Instead of the multimedia center, the multinational didn’t even provide a simple radio, causing the model to reach the market with only a plastic cover. Although the Volkswagen car comes without the main product, it will arrive at dealerships with a discount of R$ 1,560. Thus, the Connect version will be available for R$ 61,690 and the Xtreme will sell for R$ 67,430, making the compact one of the cheapest vehicles from the multinational Volkswagen in Brazil.

Semiconductor Chip Crisis Prioritizes T-Cross SUV Models
The removal of the multimedia center from the Fox is linked to the semiconductor chip crisis, but there is another reason for this to happen. According to the multinational Volkswagen, to meet the production demand of the T-Cross SUV, it was necessary to transfer the entire stock of components to the production line of the model.
Thus, the vehicle, which is one of the best-selling from the brand in Brazil, continues to be manufactured. The Fox is produced at the São José dos Pinhais unit in Paraná, alongside the T-Cross. The other plants of the automaker, such as those in Taubaté and São Bernardo do Campo, both in São Paulo, continue to operate at reduced capacity. In them, the Gol, Saveiro, Voyage, and Nivus models are produced.
Volkswagen Units Delay Activities Of Their Employees Due To Chip Shortages
At the automaker’s unit in Taubaté (SP), the return to work occurred on August 1 with only one shift. At the unit in São Bernardo do Campo, shifts have been suspended since the 19th, with about 1,500 employees on collective vacation due to the absence of microchips. The forecast for the resumption of activities was set for the 9th, but has been extended for another 20 days.
