Due To The Global Chip Crisis, Tesla Delays Launches Of Some Versions Of Electric Cars Like The Plaid And The Long Range
Tesla has once again delayed the delivery of the new electric cars Model S and Model X, in the same week that Elon Musk announced the suspension of cryptocurrency as a payment method, and the global chip crisis may be linked to the delay. Earlier this year, Tesla confirmed updates for the Model X and Model S electric cars since they hit the market. Elon Musk revealed at the time that the models would reach 1,020 horsepower, due to the new performance versions Plaid and Plaid+.

Tesla Announces New Dates For The Arrival Of Electric Cars
Tesla has changed the delivery dates without explaining the reasons for the delays in the production of electric cars. It is worth noting that Tesla discontinued its Public Relations department last year and eliminated all communication channels with the press. Therefore, the sedan will only arrive in the second half of this year. The Plaid version and the first units of the Long Range version, which were supposed to arrive in June, are now expected to be delivered to customers around September and October.
The only version that did not change its date was the Plaid+, which, although Tesla has not announced a date for its debut, is estimated to arrive around 2022. For the Model X electric car, the Plaid and Long Range versions, which were scheduled for delivery in October, have been postponed to January and February of next year.

Understanding The Semiconductor Chip Crisis
One of the most likely reasons for the delays in Tesla’s electric car deliveries is linked to the global semiconductor chip crisis. The chip crisis has impacted the automotive industry, and Tesla has not been able to escape it.
The chip shortage is expected to continue until the end of this year. Earlier this year, specifically in February, employees at the Fremont factory were informed that the production line for the Model 3 would be out of operation from February to March.
Tesla Working On Electric Cars That Go Beyond Power
In addition to the electric cars exceeding 1,000 hp of power, the Plaid versions are essential for those seeking entertainment during the trip, as the version will be compatible with games like Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3, and to further enhance your experience, it will have wireless controller connectivity.
To make this possible, the multimedia systems of the electric cars will utilize chips with processing capabilities of 10 teraflops, meaning they can perform around 10 trillion floating-point operations per second. For context, the Xbox Series X, for example, is 12 teraflops.
