The Last Seminar CanaMS 2025, Held by Embrapa Agropecuária Oeste in Dourados (MS), Presents New Agricultural Technologies, Sustainable Management, and Harvest Forecasting by Satellite
Embrapa Agropecuária Oeste will host the closing of the 10th Agricultural Seminar Cycle CanaMS 2025 on October 23, 2025, with the theme “Soil Preparation and Planting,” according to a report published.
The event takes place in Dourados (MS), from 8 AM to 4 PM (local time), gathering professionals from the sugar-energy sector, suppliers, researchers, and rural producers interested in enhancing agricultural practices and increasing the productivity of sugarcane fields.
Held in partnership with TCH Gestão Agrícola and supported by Biosul and Sulcanas, the meeting focuses primarily on efficient and sustainable soil management, combined with the latest technological innovations in the sector.

Unable to pass through Hormuz, Brazil activated a plan B that uses Turkey as a gateway to the Middle East: the route through Gibraltar and the Mediterranean is longer and more expensive but ensures that chicken, beef, and corn continue to reach Arab markets.
-
You grew up hearing that the good coffee from Brazil goes all abroad and the bad coffee stays for Brazilians, but this story has completely changed, and the numbers show that in the 1980s, thirty percent of the coffee sold here was adulterated with corn and barley.

Engineer creates reforestation method that transforms small plots into dense forests in a few years using local biomass and can reduce environmental recovery costs.

Alone, the producer applies 7,400 hectares with the T100 drone in an optimized structure, replaces the generator with a silent battery, and demonstrates how technology reduces costs, increases productivity, and even challenges the uniport in the field.
During the program, Embrapa Agropecuária Oeste highlights lectures on scientific advances, sustainability, and agricultural forecasts based on data.
Among the topics of interest are strategies for mitigating climate impacts and low-carbon solutions applied to sugarcane planting.
Harvest Forecasting via Satellite Boosts Precision Agriculture
The lecture by researcher Geraldo Magela de Almeida Cançado from Embrapa Agricultura Digital presents an unprecedented harvest forecasting tool based on remote sensing.
This modeling, developed by Embrapa Agropecuária Oeste and its partners, uses environmental data to estimate, with up to 80% accuracy, the productivity of sugarcane and soybean plots.
The technology allows producers to plan harvests and detect management failures in advance, favoring strategic decisions.
The researcher explains that the team is working to adapt the model to public and free satellite platforms, increasing access to technology and reducing costs for the producer.
This innovation reinforces the role of precision agriculture in strengthening sustainability and increasing the operational efficiency of sugar mills and rural properties.
Sustainability and Biological Control in the Sugar-Energy Sector
The event also addresses topics such as the control of stable flies, presented by Alex Antônio Andrade, supervisor of Fertirrigation at Atvos.
The specialist demonstrates effective practices that reduce the impact of the pest in the field and on animals. Next, CTC consultant Guilherme Castioni discusses new soil preparation techniques focusing on reduced carbon emissions, a crucial subject in the context of global environmental goals.
In the afternoon, plant pathologist consultant Abel Torres and technician William Arnt, also from CTC, explain the ESFERA platform and share findings about the sugarcane wilt syndrome, a disease that directly affects productivity and quality of crops.
These contents demonstrate how Embrapa Agropecuária Oeste works in disseminating scientific and practical knowledge to the entire sugarcane production chain.

Embrapa Agropecuária Oeste: Strategic Partnerships and Continuity of Agricultural Seminars
The realization of CanaMS 2025 is sponsored by Diamond sponsors Agro-X and Kracht; Gold sponsors Biotrop, Euroforte, and Ubyfol; Silver sponsors Microgeo and MS Drones; and Bronze sponsors Centro de Tecnologia Canavieira (CTC) and Union Agro.
This set of partnerships reinforces the integration between research, technology, and the productive sector, essential pillars for the competitiveness of the Brazilian agribusiness.
The seminar, free and open to the public, offers registrations that can be made online. Click here to register. The broadcast will be live on the official Embrapa Agropecuária Oeste YouTube channel. Just click here to follow everything.
As 2025 comes to a close, the institution is already planning the 11th CanaMS for 2026, when the format will be adjusted to two annual meetings, one each semester, maintaining technical relevance and commitment to sustainability.
