Goldwind Inaugurates Its First Factory Outside China in Bahia, Promising 500 Jobs and Boosting the Brazilian Wind Sector.
Imagine a future where renewable energy dominates the global landscape and Brazil positions itself as an undeniable leader in the sector.
As the demand for clean energy grows exponentially, a significant movement in the wind sector promises to change the game. An Asian giant arrives in Brazil with ambitious promises, but will the expectations be met? The answer may surprise even the most optimistic.
The Chinese company Goldwind, one of the largest manufacturers of wind turbines in the world, inaugurated a new factory in Camaçari, Bahia, this Tuesday (27).

Havan will leave the shopping mall in Blumenau to inaugurate something that the chain has never done before: a megastore in half-timbered style in the Historic Center of the city, which is expected to be completed in May and change the landscape of local retail.
With a capacity to produce up to 150 turbines per year, the facility promises to generate up to 100 direct jobs and 500 indirect jobs across the supply chain in Brazil. The total investment in the project is R$ 100 million, with the expectation of capturing up to 30% of the Brazilian wind turbine market.
First Unit Outside China
Strategically located in the former General Electric (GE) complex, Goldwind’s new factory marks the company’s first unit outside China.
The choice of Bahia as the headquarters was the result of a joint effort by local authorities to attract investments in the renewable energy sector.
Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues emphasized that the project is not just about producing wind turbines, but is part of an energy transition policy to strengthen the Brazilian energy matrix.
According to Cao Zhingang, president of the Goldwind group, the establishment of the factory in Camaçari is an important milestone for the company:
“We are happy to launch this unit to meet the growing Brazilian market for clean energy. We believe in Brazil and Bahia’s potential to become global leaders in renewable energy“, Zhingang stated.
Economic and Energy Impact
The inauguration of the factory occurs at a time when Bahia consolidates itself as the largest producer of wind energy in Brazil. With 342 generating plants in commercial operation, the state contributes more than 10,123 MW to the installed electrical generation capacity in the country.
These investments, totaling R$ 41.79 billion, are responsible for creating thousands of jobs, with the forecast that the number of job openings will double by 2030 as new projects are initiated.
The new Goldwind factory will significantly contribute to this growth. The wind turbines produced in Camaçari will have power between 5.3 and 7.5 MW, surpassing national models, which reach just over 6 MW.
The company’s goal is to capture between 25% and 30% of the Brazilian market, further boosting clean energy production in the country.
Challenges and Opportunities
Despite the optimism, Goldwind’s arrival in Brazil is not without challenges. Competition with other giants in the wind sector, along with logistical and regulatory issues, may impact the success of the venture.
However, government support and the growing interest in renewable energy create a favorable environment for the development of this sector.
According to Alexandre Silveira, Minister of Mines and Energy, the establishment of the new factory is a crucial step to diversify the Brazilian energy matrix and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
He highlighted that Brazil can become a global reference in clean energy, and Goldwind’s investment is a clear demonstration of this possibility.
Crucial Moment for the Sector
Goldwind arrives in Brazil at a crucial moment for the energy sector. With a robust investment and promises of jobs and economic growth, the company is making a big bet on the Brazilian market.
It remains to be seen whether Brazil can establish itself as a global leader in renewable energies, or if internal challenges will limit the potential of this new giant in the wind landscape.
