BRICS countries lead the world ranking in hours worked, with India, China, Russia, and Brazil at the top of the list, while Germans work nearly a thousand hours less per year and earn much more.
This significant investment comes at a crucial time for the Brazilian wind industry, which faces challenges due to a decrease in orders for new wind farms in the country.
The new investments from Vestas are part of a broader package of actions that is expected to be announced by the company at its plant in the city of Aquiraz this week.
This step not only represents a revitalization for the sector but also highlights the company’s ongoing role in the development of Renewable Energy in Brazil.
Challenges Faced by the Brazilian Wind Sector
Vestas’ investment comes at a challenging time for the national wind industry. In recent years, major multinationals such as GE and Siemens Energy have been forced to halt or reduce their operations in Brazil due to adverse conditions in the local market and turbulence in the global supply chain.
The decrease in orders and global economic instability have severely affected the production and installation of wind turbines.
In response to these challenges, the Brazilian government is studying various measures to stimulate the sustainability and growth of the wind industry in the country.
The Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) has proposed plans that include an export plan for wind turbines and components, as well as adjustments to credit lines to finance both capital goods and wind energy generation projects. These actions aim to create a more favorable environment for the continuity and expansion of the sector.
The Future of Wind Energy in Brazil
The influx of international capital and continuous investment in cutting-edge technology are crucial to ensuring the sustainability of the wind industry in Brazil. Vestas, with its substantial investment, not only strengthens its presence in the Brazilian market but also significantly contributes to the advancement of clean energy generation in the country.
