Brothers Invest in New Electric Motorcycle Factory in the Free Trade Zone of Manaus and Plan to Manufacture Unique Models for the Brazilian Market.
The company Boram Electric Motors announced a new factory in the Free Trade Zone of Manaus to produce electric motorcycles. The company’s goal is to manufacture the first batch of 300 motorcycles, which will take place after the arrival of parts on-site. The factory is expected to be inaugurated as early as July this year and the unit has already consumed over 10 million in investments, an amount distributed between factory infrastructure and the purchase of materials for production in the initial months.
Electric Motorcycle Company Has Already Sold 1,200 Vehicles
The venture started in 2019, in Manaus, by brothers and entrepreneurs Thiago and Hélio Freire as an import business. Among shipments from China, the country from which they brought various products like electronics, solar panels, and construction equipment for the national market through their trade company, Freire Import, Thiago saw electric motorcycles as a significant business opportunity amid the global push for sustainable mobility. With a local manufacturer in China, he made an initial purchase of 10 units and started sales.
The brother, an IT professional and also familiar with the ecosystem of the Free Trade Zone of Manaus, joined the business and together they made an investment of R$ 7 million. Over the past few years, the two have sold more than 1,200 vehicles in three states in the northern region: Amazonas, Roraima, and Rondônia, where they have 9 stores, both concept and conventional.

Among them are scooters, electric scooters, and dirt bikes, with prices ranging from R$ 14,000 to R$ 19,000 for the New Choper. The revenue equates to a growth rate of 225% compared to the results achieved the previous year (R$ 4 million).
New Electric Motorcycle Factory in Manaus Will Bring More Affordable Prices to Buyers
The opening of the new factory in Manaus marks a new moment for the business in search of Brazilian expansion. With local assembly and the use of some components purchased from Brazilian suppliers, the operation will see significant reductions in certain taxes. Currently, if they wish to sell to other states such as São Paulo, the Manaus company must pay up to 30% or 40% in taxes, for example.
According to Thiago, it is not possible to pass this cost onto the final customer. With local production, the brothers will have the same price conditions across all states. Furthermore, due to economies of scale, the expectation is to reduce the final price by about 10% to 15%. The new factory will have the operational capacity to manufacture up to 2,000 electric motorcycles per month.
New Strategies for Growth in the National Market
The path chosen by the company is based on other manufacturers operating in Manaus. The industrial sector, created to encourage business expansion in the northern region, fosters business growth and houses companies like Yamaha, BMW Honda, and electric motorcycle market competitors Watts, owned by Multilaser, and Voltz, backed by Creditas and Grupo Ultra.
With the new factory and increased volume, the next step is to launch e-commerce to make products available nationwide. The company has already secured a warehouse in Valinhos, São Paulo, which will serve as a distribution center.
In parallel, Thiago mentions that he is already negotiating with Brazilian retailers for the sale of motorcycles. According to the executive, the talks are promising, and they anticipate a rapid expansion pace.
