A guard from a company in Itabuna, in southern Bahia, will be compensated R$ 20 thousand following a decision by the 5th Panel of the Regional Labor Court of Bahia (TRT-BA). The compensation includes reparations for poor hygiene conditions, absence of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and imposition of mandatory corporate courses during off days.
According to Correio 24 Horas, witnesses stated that employees were required to take courses outside of work hours, and if they refused, they faced penalties.
In one case, a worker was even fired. For this conduct, the Court ordered the payment of R$ 5 thousand to the guard.

Health Risks and Unhealthy Environment
The worker also reported being forced to search through and handle garbage without gloves, exposing himself to food scraps and even tissue paper with mucus.
For this violation, the Court imposed an additional R$ 5 thousand in compensation to the company, according to the portal.
Additionally, witnesses described the constant presence of roaches and rats in the cafeteria, especially after a flood.
The TRT-BA considered the situation serious as it compromised the health and dignity of the employees.
Decision Upheld by the Court
The total of the conviction reached R$ 20 thousand when the amounts were summed. The Court upheld the first instance decision in its entirety, understanding that the conditions imposed on the worker exceeded legal and moral limits in the workplace.
