With Billion-Dollar Investment, Rio Grande do Sul Will Receive Mega Wind Power Plant. Wind Project Promises to Generate Thousands of Jobs in the Sector and Boost the State’s Economy.
On Monday (19), Governor Eduardo Leite signed a letter of intent with companies specializing in renewable energy for the development of a new wind power plant, which will be implemented in the Fronteira Oeste region of Rio Grande do Sul.
This ambitious project aims to further strengthen the potential for wind energy generation in the state, an area that already stands out in the national scene and creates new jobs. With the growing demand for clean and sustainable energy sources, Rio Grande do Sul positions itself as one of the main hubs for development and innovation in Brazil’s wind sector.
In addition to contributing to the state’s energy matrix, the project also promises to generate jobs and boost the local economy. Stay tuned for details of this new venture that promises to transform the region.

More Than a Thousand Jobs Will Be Generated with the Arrival of the New Wind Power Plant
Preliminary analyses indicate that the wind project has the potential to attract around R$ 3 billion in investments and generate more than a thousand jobs. The protocol was signed with Vento Pampeiro, a consortium formed by Vestas Depelopment, a Danish company dedicated to the development of wind energy generation projects, and Renobrax, a company headquartered in Porto Alegre, responsible for designing renewable energy projects across Brazil.
The mayor of Alegrete, Márcio Fonseca do Amaral, attended the ceremony and expressed high optimism regarding the wind project idea. According to the mayor of the 3rd Capital Farroupilha, the goal is to put the region on the map of renewable energy sources with this wind power plant. More jobs, more development, and the city hall is a partner in this investment.
For Mayor Márcio, the region will have a new source of income, in addition to agriculture and livestock, aligning with everything sought for regional development, which is employability, with more than a thousand direct jobs, tax generation, and energy efficiency, the legislator anticipates.
New Wind Power Plant Will Produce Up to 400.5 MW
According to Amaral, this is essential for the region, which requires a lot of energy for rice irrigation and will face even more challenges with the implementation of pivot irrigation systems in soybean areas.
The agreement aims to enable the Três Divisas Wind Complex, which is to be installed in the cities of Alegrete, Uruguaiana, and Quaraí, with the possibility of expansion to other municipalities in the region. According to studies already conducted by the companies, the site has a high potential for energy provision, capable of reaching 400.5 megawatts.
With the agreement for the wind project, the state government aims to position Rio Grande do Sul as an important player in the movement for global decarbonization and against the harmful effects of climate change, with a focus on the search for renewable energy sources.
According to Emani Polo, the Secretary of Economic Development, efforts are being made to ensure that the state, in this challenging reconstruction that requires much effort, can also maintain the investments that were previously being developed.
Vestas Speaks Out on Wind Project
According to Frederic Guillaume, Vice President of Development at Vestas for Latin America, at Vestas, the company is committed to helping bridge the gap that may arise between new investment opportunities and the availability of high-quality projects.
It is known that the planning stage of the new wind project, which will create thousands of jobs, is a complex and dynamic activity, requiring technical expertise, with special attention to security issues, socio-environmental impact, and economic viability.
Frederic states that fortunately, these are assets that the company controls and incorporates into its wind power plant projects to enable good investment opportunities and maximize the value to be added by the future venture. For the Managing Partner at Renobrax, Stevan Ruschel da Silva, the agreement for the wind project comes with the best technical resources and professional training.
