With a billion-dollar investment, Rio Grande do Sul will receive a mega wind energy plant. Wind project promises to generate thousands of jobs in the sector and boost the state’s economy.
On Monday (19), Governor Eduardo Leite signed a protocol of intentions with companies specializing in renewable energy for the development of a new wind energy plant, which will be implemented in the Western Border region of Rio Grande do Sul.
This ambitious project aims to further strengthen the potential for wind energy generation in the state, an area that already stands out on the national scene, and generate new jobs. With the growing demand for clean and sustainable energy sources, Rio Grande do Sul is positioned as one of the main hubs for development and innovation in the wind sector in Brazil.
In addition to contributing to the state's energy matrix, the project also promises to generate jobs and boost the local economy. Stay up to date with the details of this new development that promises to transform the region.

More than a thousand jobs will be created with the arrival of the new wind energy plant
Preliminary analyzes indicate that the wind project has the potential to attract around R$3 billion in investments and generate more than a thousand jobs. The protocol was signed with the Pampeiro Wind, a consortium formed by Vestas Depelopment, a company of Danish origin dedicated to the development of projects for the wind power generation, and by Renobrax, a company based in Porto Alegre, responsible for designing renewable energy projects throughout Brazil.
The mayor of Alegrete, Márcio Fonseca do Amaral, was present at the ceremony and said he was very optimistic about the idea of the wind project. According to the mayor of the 3rd Capital Farroupilha, the objective is to put the region on the map of renewable energy sources, with this wind energy plant. More jobs, more development and the city hall is a partner in this investment.
For Mayor Márcio, the region will have a new source of income, in addition to agriculture and livestock, which meets everything sought for regional development, which is employability, with more than a thousand direct jobs, generating of taxes and energy efficiency, the legislator anticipates.
New wind power plant will produce up to 400,5 MW
According to Amaral, this is even fundamental for the region that requires a lot of energy to irrigate rice crops and should be further challenged, through the implementation of pivot irrigation systems, in soybean areas.
The agreement aims to enable the Três Dividas Wind Complex, which should be installed in the cities of Alegrete, Uruguaiana and Quaraí, with the possibility of expansion to other municipalities in the region. According to studies already carried out by the companies, the site has a high potential to supply energy, reaching 400,5 megawatts.
With the agreement for the wind project, the State government aims to position Rio Grande do Sul as an important actor in the movement for the decarbonization of the planet and against the harmful effects of climate change, with emphasis on the search for renewable energy sources.
According to Emani Polo, Secretary of Economic Development, work is being done in a determined manner so that the State, in this challenging reconstruction that requires a lot of effort, can also maintain the investments that were previously being built.
Vestas speaks out about wind project
According to Vestas' Vice President of Development for Latin America, Frederic Guillaume, at Vestas, the company is committed to contributing to closing the gap that may arise between new investment opportunities and the offer of high quality projects.
It is known that the planning stage of the new wind project, which will create thousands of jobs, is a complex and dynamic activity, which demands technical expertise, with special attention to safety issues, socio-environmental impact and economic viability.
Frederic states that, fortunately, these are assets that the company dominates, and incorporates into its wind power plant projects to enable good investment opportunities and maximize the value that will be added by the future venture. For the managing partner at Renobrax, Stevan Ruschel da Silvera, the agreement for the wind project has the best technical and professional training resources.
