With the New Government Program, Banco do Brasil Joins Acredita no Primeiro Passo, Expands Productive Directed Microcredit, Helps Generate Income, Strengthens Small Businesses, and Directs Up to R$ 1.4 Billion from FCO to Those Who Most Need to Start a Business throughout the Country, Leaving Informality and Opening Local Opportunities.
On Wednesday (10th), in Brasília (DF), the new government program Acredita no Primeiro Passo took a decisive step by officially designating Banco do Brasil as the financial agent focused on low-interest microcredit for small entrepreneurs across the country. The initiative aims to bring businesses to life, include those who most need it in the financial system, and support income generation in regions with greater social vulnerability.
With the decision, the meeting brought together representatives from the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development (MIDR) and Sudeco to detail the allocation of part of the resources from the Constitutional Fund for Financing the Midwest (FCO) to productive directed microcredit, with a projected budget of over R$ 14 billion for 2026, focusing on strengthening the real economy in Brazilian cities.

According to MIDR, the partnership was designed to bring opportunities to those who need it most, combining credit, guidance, and productive inclusion.
The chief of staff of the Ministry, Marilene Nascimento, emphasized that the program consolidates the use of microcredit as a tool to promote development, strengthen capacities, and expand opportunities for those at the base of the economy.
Responsible for the Acredita Program in the Federal Government, Minister Wellington Dias highlighted that social development is a strategic part of economic development and that the goal is to place the poorest people at the center of public policies, ensuring credit and support for them to start businesses and generate income more securely.
FCO Reserves 10% for Productive Directed Microcredit Until 2026
In the last meeting of the Deliberative Council, Sudeco approved the allocation of 10% of FCO for productive directed microcredit, following the guideline of President Lula and Minister Waldez Góes to highlight small entrepreneurs in the development agenda.
For 2026, FCO has a projected budget of over R$ 14 billion, with about R$ 1.4 billion allocated to urban and rural microcredit.
The superintendent of Sudeco, Luciana Barros, emphasized that the Fund utilizes important support instruments for the productive sector, such as FAND, and that a significant portion of the resources is being channeled to microcredit, in direct alignment with the Acredita Program and MIDR’s actions in the Midwest region.
Who Can Access Acredita no Primeiro Passo
Created by the Federal Government, Acredita no Primeiro Passo offers low-interest microcredit, training, and support for income generation for low-income families registered in the CadÚnico, serving people aged 16 to 65 who wish to start or strengthen a small business.
The program prioritizes women, youth, people with disabilities, Black communities, and traditional peoples and communities, groups that have historically faced more barriers to accessing credit, opening formal businesses, or expanding productive activities.
The idea is to combine accessible financing with guidance and support so that the resources genuinely transform into income and improve the quality of life in the territory where the family lives.
Beyond Credit: Courses, Guidance, and Partnerships in 2024
In addition to microcredit, beneficiaries of Acredita no Primeiro Passo have access to professional courses, guidance for job seekers, and support for those wishing to open or expand a small business in areas such as commerce, services, and artisanal production.
In 2024, the program established partnerships with states, municipalities, social organizations, and private companies, broadening the reach of productive inclusion actions and creating more opportunities in territories where traditional credit rarely reaches.
The combination of financing, training, and local coordination is seen as key to stirring the economy in the most vulnerable neighborhoods and municipalities, stimulating small businesses, services, and productive initiatives by low-income families.
New Government Program as a Gateway to Entrepreneurship
According to the Federal Government, the new government program Acredita no Primeiro Passo serves as a genuine gateway for those wanting to bring their ideas to life, formalize their businesses, and establish a credit history, always accompanied by technical guidance and institutional support.
With Banco do Brasil’s entry as a financial agent and the allocation of FCO resources for productive directed microcredit, the hope is that more Brazilians can make their first investment in their own business, generate income where they live, and strengthen the regional development, especially in the Midwest and in areas of greater social vulnerability.
Are you thinking of using this new government program to bring your business to life or recommending microcredit to someone close who wants to start a business?
